The Vernier Callipers are a measuring tool used for greater precision than the metre rule, with a least count of 0.1mm. Before measuring, the zero error must be found, which is the difference between the zero line of the Vernier scale and the zero of the main scale. To take a reading, note the complete divisions of the main scale past the Vernier scale zero and find the Vernier scale division coinciding with any division on the main scale. Repeat the measurement at least three times for accuracy. The Vernier Callipers are an essential tool in any workshop.
