00:00Congratulations Kelisa, you've just won the Ness Factor 2024.

00:04I'm flabbergasted, I can't believe it.

00:08Obviously the standard was so high today.

00:10It was phenomenal, that's what I, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would

00:16come anywhere near some of these guys. They were all just phenomenal and I sat in rehearsals and

00:24thought you're all so much better than me, you know that kind of, and I just thought I'm going

00:29to go out there, have fun, do the performance, try my best and obviously it's paid for.

00:37Can you tell us how did you come about choosing that song? Did you choose it or did your vocals

00:42choose it? No, well initially I chose a song called Creep, which you'll know, but it was the

00:48post-modern jukebox fashion so it's quite jazzy and bluesy and it just wasn't kind of working for

00:56me. I mean I could kind of do it but okay, but I just thought my voice is more suited to that kind

01:04of style and actually as well it's a song I associated with childhood and growing up and

01:13you know growing up in the 80s and Bonnie Tyler was iconic and yeah so that's really.

01:20And you obviously enjoyed it, the audience enjoyed it tonight as well and now you're

01:24going to get a chance to sing that in a ballad room next year. I know, I know, I have to, yeah, I know, yes.

01:32But the thing is I think like tonight I was so nervous, like the last three months I've really

01:37focused on the fundraising. I have practiced my singing a lot but just never really thought I was

01:43quite good, you know, not quite good enough but so I really, really focused on the fundraising for

01:51probably, well obviously because of the hospice and you know and it's an amazing charity but also

01:57that I thought that's my strength, you know, maybe the singing's not so much but I thought

02:03everybody else will talk themselves down and it's just confidence but no, it's an amazing experience

02:11and I can't believe I'm here. And you mentioned the fundraising, you told me before, over ten

02:17thousand pounds and that's incredible for the hospice. Yeah, yes and that's what matters at

02:22the end of the day, that's what the competition really is about and yeah, I've been as happy

02:32to walk away with that tonight, that's the best prize really. This is like an added bonus, it's just

02:41I can't believe it, I feel like I'm in a dream. And obviously they said that part of the reason

02:47in the VT before was because of your mum. My mum, yeah, my mum died in February very, very suddenly

02:55and yeah, initially I didn't really mention that because it was just too raw and kind of

03:05personal but it's kind of come out but also it's about being inspired by my kids doing it and

03:12doing a bit of musical theatre, just kind of stepping on the stage and I thought why not?

03:16It was very, very spur of the moment, I didn't think I'd get past that location,

03:21I didn't think, sadly I didn't think I'd get past the auditions because I had whooping cough at the

03:26time and here I am, so anybody can do it. And you mentioned kids, obviously Heather, she had

03:33success earlier on this year with a charity singing competition. Yeah, she did, she was Amy Winehouse

03:39and Snap and what I noticed with Heather is she performed the song and it's, I think a lot of

03:46these things, the vocals are really important but you need to perform and I guess that was helpful

03:53to have, and I've had that support, you know. And anyone, just finally anyone who wants to

04:00sign up next year, what would be the message? Do it, even if you think you're not the best singer,

04:06I mean I knew I could sing but I didn't think I was that good, you know, and I'm not saying I am

04:14that good but you know, I mean it just, if you think, if you can hold the tune, go for it,

04:20go for it, it's such an amazing experience, you meet amazing people, every one of that

04:24contestants out there are just phenomenal and I would have been delighted with any of them

04:29winning tonight, I would have been, and they're all celebrating it, they're just fab, they're just fab.
