00:50Apparently, a lot of people are, as this latest addition to the tapestry that is Warhammer

00:5540k has brought about a fresh surge of fans to the license.

00:59Following on from its fun yet uneven prequel, players once again take on the role of Ultramarine

01:04Titus, tasked with contending with the encroaching Tyranid threat.

01:08The hacking, slashing and third person gunplay may harken back to yesteryear with its simplicity,

01:14but it is impossible to ignore just how outrageously fun it is combating endless waves of insectoid

01:19monstrosities, especially in co-op.

01:28Epic Mickey Rebrushed

01:39One of the darkest Disney video game outings was given a fresh coat of paint this year,

01:44taking what many considered a forgotten gem and shining a spotlight on Mickey's adventures

01:48across the wasteland.

01:49If you like your Disney with a splash of meta commentary, plenty of platforming and a...

01:56Then this one's for you.

01:57While it may not be among the pantheon of greatest video game remakes, this was an ink

02:02spill we were more than happy to dive into once more.

02:13The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom

02:22About time that the Princess of Hyrule was given the chance to headline her own game,

02:27and we're more than happy to say that it's a rousing success.

02:30While less heavy on action in favour of puzzle solving, Echoes of Wisdom has charm pouring

02:35out of every frame.

02:37With Link sealed away, it falls to Zelda to save her kingdom, though instead of the Master

02:41Sword, Zelda can use her magic to replicate any items and enemies she encounters, paving

02:47the way for an immense amount of freedom when it comes to both combat and platforming.

02:51Needless to say, Nintendo might have another banger sub-series on their hands.

03:00Like a dragon, infinite wealth.

03:12You can take the Yakuza out of Japan, but don't think for a second they aren't going

03:15to cause all manner of chaos wherever they end up.

03:19This is most certainly true for Kiryu and Ichiban, two of the franchise's most legendary

03:23leads, as they find themselves in Hawaii chasing conspiracies, breaking bones and getting embroiled

03:29in some of the wildest side-content ever committed to gaming.

03:33The excessive silliness, slick mechanics and grounded drama are all here in force.

03:38It's a good time guaranteed, no matter which aspect you lean into.

03:53You don't know what addictive means until you've taken your first step into this game's

03:58world of poker-based roguelike.

04:00The core principle remains the same, win with the highest score by having the best hand.

04:05Where things get interesting is the effects of certain additional cards and decks, which

04:09when played, can make or break a run.

04:12Alter a card's value, provide bonuses, snag an overflowing victory.

04:16Once you've tasted success, that's when the one more game mentality kicks in.

04:21Between this and Vampire Survivors, it's a miracle anyone has played anything else

04:25this year.

04:27Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

04:43Everything great about Remake has been exponentially expanded and perfected upon in Rebirth, continuing

04:49this unexpected trilogy's rise as one of the best the franchise has ever produced.

04:54After leaving Midgar, Cloud and company become further embroiled in the battle against Shinra,

04:59all the while haunted by Sephiroth and his grand design.

05:02This reimagining has so much to offer in terms of mini-games, challenges, original content,

05:07character moments and jaw-dropping set-pieces, we don't have a clue how they're going

05:11to top it all in the third game.

05:19Whether you're a fan of Dunkey or not, this Metroidvania is something truly special

05:29and worth diving into.

05:30On the surface, it's about a blob exploring a labyrinth with strange animal inhabitants.

05:35Though as you inevitably explore deeper thanks to some quirky tools, things start to become

05:39darker, more mystical and horrifying.

05:43It's an uncanny valley that will keep you puzzled about its true meaning and intentions

05:46well beyond its ending, but will still find a way to keep you transfixed all throughout

05:51your short tenure.

05:52Big Mode has a big win on their hands, that's for sure.

05:56Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erg-Tree, it's a DLC with more polish, content and intricacy

06:05to its name than most AAA's out there.

06:08How could we not include it?

06:10From the rich and often terrifying landscape that is the Realm of Shadows, its monumental

06:14variety of boss battles, all the way to its incredible build options that, quite honestly,

06:20will have you skipping back over to the base game just to see if you can one shot Millenia.

06:24If this truly is the end of Elden Ring, then we can proudly say that this expansion is

06:28the jewel in an already illustrious crown.

06:32Never doubt FromSoft.

06:38Black Myth Wukong.

06:50The fact this game was able to live up to the impossible hype is a testament to the

06:54effort and creativity poured into every aspect of its framework.

06:58The borderline absurd amounts of abilities granted to you, the sheer amount of unique

07:04combat, all saturated in a beautiful world that pays homage to Wukong's story.

07:09Those of you looking for spectacle alongside some truly awesome combat are in for a treat.

07:14While those of you that have waited your whole life for a game that truly pays respect to

07:18this icon of Chinese mythology, this is your new holy grail.

07:30Before we reveal our number one pick, here are a few honourable mentions.

07:34Satisfactory UFO 50

07:46Persona 3 Reload Astro Bot

07:59Nostalgia has never been so epic.

08:03The fact this game is simultaneously a celebration of PlayStation as well as one of the most

08:07delightful platformers we have ever experienced has made it a modern marvel.

08:12Every level is dripping with charm, the haptic feedback has never felt better, collecting

08:16every character wasn't so much a chore as it was wholly investing.

08:20And come on, how could we not love something as adorable as Astro?

08:24If platformers are your thing, this is required gaming.

08:27If you have a soft spot for PlayStation games throughout the years, this is most certainly

08:32required gaming.

08:33I think it's fair to say that Sony has found itself a new mascot.
