00:58Saudi Arabia has also been invited to join the bloc, seen as a counterweight to the West.

01:14The summit is the biggest such meeting in Russia since it ordered troops into Ukraine.

01:31Moscow as a valued ally and friend in his meeting with Putin.

01:36The Russian president was forced to abandon plans to attend last year's summit in South

01:40Africa after the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants against him.
