Greetings Everybody!
Welcome to learning badminton with Abhijeet Naimpally.
Today, we learn an important technique – the perfect net shot!
These strokes are meant to be played somewhere closer to the net.
The idea is to trick the opponent come forward by placing the shuttle near the net.
Ensure that your front foot is in line with your shoulder when you try the net shot.

Hello and welcome back to another episode of learning badminton with me.
00:03
I am Abhijeet Naimpally. Today's episode is about net shots. So net shots are
00:09
typically strokes which are played only in the front area of the court. The idea
00:14
of this stroke is to draw your opponent from the rear court to the front court.
00:19
So the idea is to take the shuttle at the shoulder level and play the stroke
00:24
in such a way that the shuttle just crosses the net and dips down. Yeah so
00:35
when this happens you can clearly see that the opponent will have to be
00:38
running fast and coming to the front area of the court to play that. So what's
00:43
going to happen here is she is now aligning herself and the foot with the
00:49
shuttle that's incoming here and the point of contact will be here. So she's
00:54
just going to place the racket under the shuttle which will enable it to just
00:59
fall off the net on the other side. Let me show you a couple of exercises which
01:03
you can try out with your sparring partner and improve your backhand net
01:07
shot skills. One is the multi shuttle feed.
01:12
The second one would be the lift drop and net shot workout. Let me show you
01:25
that as well. So this is also one other variant of practicing your net shots. The
01:37
third one would be where you and your partner can practice. One can play the
01:42
backhand net shot. The other one would be trying out the forehand net shot.
