Grant & Danny react to the breaking news that the Washington Commanders have cut former first round pick Jamin Davis.

00:08She puts this out in a tweet that also lists that the team has cut safety Sheldrick Redwine

00:15from the practice squad and has signed a couple players to the practice squad.

00:19Sounds like perhaps a roster announcement has come out from the club.

00:23But Nikki Jhabvala, the first we've seen here, announcing that Jamin Davis, Defensive End,

00:29former first-round pick, is being released by the commanders.

00:51I mean, Jamin Davis, if you look at how much he's played of late, has certainly not been

00:56a factor at the Defensive End position.

00:58And he hasn't been on the field very much at all.

01:02But to hear that he's being cut as a former first-round pick in the Rivera era who went

01:07in the top 20 after five games with this Dan Quinn regime is pretty massive.

01:13The team has tweeted out as part of their set of roster moves.

01:15So there you go.

01:16So that must be because I saw Nikki's tweet.

01:19I'm going, if you're reporting this, you would source it or you would put it by itself.

01:23She's got it just with like three or four different roster moves.

01:28So the team made the announcement and nobody broke it, I guess.

01:32Cause it just says, you know, we've made the falling roster moves.

01:35Ben Nicol and Michael Strachan and Sheldrick Redwine and Jamin Davis is cut.

01:40So anyway, but, but to that, so this is, this is a pretty big deal.

01:45And here's why it's not just a guy that's not playing is released by team.

01:49Think about what they did when they moved on from Johan Dotson.

01:53And this is not to impugn Johan Dotson or run down his character and like that, but

01:56it basically is a, at a position that we're not real strong as evidenced by the fact that

02:01we went out and got somebody that was cut at the 11th hour by another team.

02:05Who's now probably our second best receiver talking about Washington.

02:08This is not a position of strength.

02:09Now it turns out it hasn't been neither.

02:10They're not desperate for receiver help.

02:12They're doing just fine.

02:13I was wrong about that.

02:14But anyway, the fact that they were willing to let Dotson go kind of showed you, we're

02:19not real concerned about missing out on him.

02:23Go to the defensive end spot.

02:24No George Armstrong, at least for some time.

02:27The thinner on the defensive line, an opportunity was going to be there for Jamin Davis to be

02:31part of a rotation opposite Dante Fowler, at least maybe for the short term.

02:35There's not a whole lot of defensive end depth right now in Washington.

02:38It's Vontae John Baptiste working his way back from injury.

02:40He's strong as well.

02:42Yeah.

02:43So there's, there were opportunities.

02:45They're playing opportunities for him and they're not concerned about your defensive

02:49end room.

02:50Cleland Farrell starts Dante Fowler was fantastic.

02:53Last week is the key guy opposite him.

02:55And then it's F.A.

02:56Obata who plays inside outside and Jamin Davis who they just cut.

03:00They think so little about how much Jamin Davis can help him that at their low point
