00:00The moment that many around the country and the Metroplex are waiting for is upon us,
00:04as Jerry is joining us right now on DFW Sports Station. Good morning, Jerry. How are you?
00:10And how are you doing, RJ? Good to be on with you guys.
00:13Oh, man, that stings. That stings, Jerry. RJ's the only one not here today.
00:19Well, did he want to avoid the confrontation?
00:22Yes, he did. Yes, he did. Jerry, what do you want to say, if anything, about last week?
00:32I don't have anything to say about last week. I'm happy, though, that I must tell you I'm
00:40surprised that last week got the attention it got. But, you know, really, when I think about
00:49what we try to do on this show, for me, is I think we give you two shots a week that I get on,
00:58and Stephen gets on once or twice, and Mike, I don't know if Mike gets on or not, but
01:06those are really a privilege. It's kind of like pillow talk. You get some inside stuff, as you
01:17know. I don't go before the normal press conferences during the week, usually. And so
01:26this is the kind of thing that I would expect and how I would answer it relative to
01:35many of your questions. You're going to ask me today, because Henry had a big night,
01:40Derrick Henry, last night. You're going to ask me again how come when Henry was available and
01:47right here in Dallas said we didn't get him. And I will tell you the same kind of question is one
01:55that my wife might ask me of 60-something years. Why did you do that? And I said, well, I really
02:04don't know why I did that. The devil made me do it. And so my point is those kinds of questions
02:12are pointedly toward putting you on a spot to make a certain kind of answer. I've obviously
02:20been asked that Derrick Henry question almost every day since we started training camp.
02:26And so that's a get in your ass type of question. And I understand that. I see that coming,
02:34and that's real good. But when you do it several times and of course, you know,
02:40I keep up with what you guys say when I'm not on the show. And so when you do it several times,
02:46I know that when you're asked about a question such as one that you might have at home,
02:55why did you do that? And you do it several times, then you really know what the situation is,
03:01where it's coming from. So those are the kinds of things that this show to me can and be about.
03:13For instance, if you ask me how I make a decision, I would say I'd maybe go back to a story of when
03:22I was buying the Cowboys. And we got down to where there was a $300,000 difference.
03:28And we couldn't get by the man that sold the team to me. And so he suggested we flip a coin.
03:36And we flipped that coin and I lost. I really got screwed. I ended up with the Dallas Cowboys.
03:42My point is, I don't know why I called heads rather than tails. And I couldn't explain to
03:47you why I called heads rather than tails. But some of this stuff works out, some of it doesn't.
03:52That's the kind of thing and the kind of answers I would expect us to be talking about on this show.
