00:00I wanted to bring my own voice to the world of Wicked embodied by Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba
00:08and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
00:11Their interpretation of who these characters are was always going to be new and different
00:16and exciting.
00:17Glinda's fashion story is so much fun.
00:20Her interpretation of what that character is and her spirit, her personality, I put
00:25them all in a pot and stirred it up and out came Glinda.
00:29For the first bubble dress, we thought we should go pink.
00:32I wish you could touch these clothes.
00:35There's just all of this pink and fluff.
00:38I nearly had a heart attack.
00:39Everything was so thoughtful.
00:41The dressmaker for Glinda, he went about approaching it from the Fibonacci spiral and creating
00:48shapes using that as a springboard and then evolving that into the dress that we have
00:55now.
00:57For Glinda, it's much more about curves and softness and femininity.
01:02They're kind of rainbow tones.
01:05Thinking about the world of Elphaba, I was looking at a lot of the textures of mushrooms
01:11and fungus in nature and the different kinds of patterns.
01:15Paul created this beautiful pleated dress that felt like velvet with an underlay of
01:22purple and lace.
01:24For her Wicked look, it's made of micro-pleated fabric that's been laid onto a base and it
01:31creates this undulation.
01:34With the hat, it becomes what we end up knowing as the Wicked Witch.
01:40Every single costume in this movie is a piece of art.
01:44This is the reason I'm here, to create new iconic images of who these characters are.
01:51And that, for me, has been the greatest joy.
