We visited Newcastle Castle to learn about its history and see what activities they have in store for the half term holiday.

00:00So we're in the castle keep of Newcastle Castle. It's an 11th century castle built by Henry II,

00:08which is open today as a visitor attraction, so people can come and visit as a museum or as an

00:13event space. It was deemed to be the most haunted place in Newcastle, which will serve over the

00:20Halloween half-term as well if you want to come. A haunted castle and an October half-term.

00:27Surely there must be some fun spooky activities for the kids leading up to Halloween.

00:31Across half-term, so from the 27th through to the 2nd, we've got Halloween activities where

00:37families are encouraged to come and come in costume, grab an activity pack, come around and

00:44meet spooky characters, do spooky things. One of our members of the castle team will be allowing

00:52children to make, or adults, to make spooky monsters out of clay, decorate a gravestone,

00:57which will decorate this room here, making bats with pigs and things like that. Lots of fun

01:03Halloween activities and crafts there. Halloween's increasingly not just for kids though, so surely

01:09there must be something there for the adults as well. We have films in the evenings for adults,

01:15things like Sweeney Todd, The Exorcist, Nosferatu, which is the first vampire film ever,

01:20and Dracula from 1958, which is the first horror film. So loads of spooky adult activities in the

01:27evenings as well. Well Halloween half-term sounds amazing, but surely with all the fun tours and

01:32activities throughout the year, it could get expensive to keep coming back? You buy a ticket

01:38to come in, but once you have that it lasts you all year for the rest of the season. So you can come

01:42and go as much as you want, so if you wanted to visit every day you could, or if you wanted to

01:46just visit the once, that's more than welcome as well. Not included is our evening events,

01:52they're a separate ticket, but things like the Halloween activities are included within your

01:58visit to the castle.
