Dad left "upset" after bailiffs arrive over parking charge he knew nothing about

A dad says he has been left "upset" after bailiffs turned up at his door - over a parking fine he had no knowledge of.  Wilson Chowdhry, 50, has hit out over the ordeal, which followed a family day out in Rochester, Kent, on May 8 last year.  The frustrated dad-of-three claims hundreds of cars were parked along the town's Esplanade and after finding a space, him and his wife spoke to locals and a traffic officer - who said it was free to park in the space.  After enjoying their day out the family returned to their hometown of Chigwell, Essex and thought nothing of it.  Mr Chowdhry says it then came as a shock to him when a year later, on May 7, 2024, he discovered bailiffs at the door pursuing a parking ticket he had heard “nothing” about.

00:08and yeah, it's frustrating. It makes me angry, it makes me upset, but more to the point,

00:15I'm still left in a situation where I don't know when I'm actually going to receive these funds.

00:39These extended delays, in my mind, are quite despicable. They're a sign of

00:47a lack of empathy, and I don't think councils who are part of a democratic process should have

00:57an attitude such as that. But in essence,

00:59they're there to serve people rather than to inflict pain. Does that make sense?
