Okay then Steve, can you just tell me about the walk you've just done and why you're so
00:17
keen to do it to support the food bank here?
00:19
I lost a lot of weight due to doctors instructions and obviously felt there was a need in this
00:28
area to supply some food and I had the idea to do a charity walk and got my family and
00:37
my cinnamon roll group involved to try and improve my health which it has done to no
00:43
end.
00:44
I feel 200% better after losing 3 stone and just to put out the food for the people who
00:50
need it most.
00:51
And how far did you walk and how much did you race?
00:55
We walked 9 miles from Woker to Marsden and back again and we raised £700 for the food
01:05
and an extra £100 to go towards the Women's Refuge Centre.
01:11
I understand you were at Aldi this morning getting all this stuff in then yeah?
01:14
I was, I went down and I got 2 crates of food off Aldi obviously from them, all the help
01:23
from Gavin and the road service obviously down there to pile it all up and my son came
01:31
down to help us put it all on the cars to deliver to Helen this morning.
01:34
And Stephen you were involved in the walk as well so what do you think about your dad's
01:37
efforts?
01:38
Yeah I couldn't be more proud of it, he's done marvellous, he's done a really good job
01:44
and it's going to help families and kids, it's a big thing for my kids, helping them
01:50
in the rural community of Farringdon and it's just going to help people and my dad's, can
01:56
I say more really, he's been a hero, love my kids.
01:59
And Helen what do you make of Stephen's efforts and just how vital has this service been in
02:03
terms of this food getting used?
02:05
Yeah I mean I'm personally overwhelmed that Steve has gone to so much effort to do this
02:10
for us at Sunderland Foodbank and it'll make so much of a difference to a lot of families
02:17
that come to our foodbanks.
02:19
We desperately need donations all the time from people so it's really good, he checked
02:24
what we needed so he's bought exactly what we were short of that will go into the parcels
02:29
that families will receive.
