00:00Hello. The late Maybank holiday is upon us.
00:03And how's the weather looking?
00:05Well, if you have to find dry, sunny weather,
00:07Saturday is your best bet.
00:09Most places will have some sunshine on Saturday.
00:11It'll feel quite warm for most as well.
00:14We will see changes through the weekend with
00:16an increase in cloud through Sunday.
00:18And that leads to a much cooler,
00:20fresher day for most on Monday.
00:23And that will be a case of dodging the showers as well.
00:25Some sunshine on Monday, but also
00:27plenty of showers to come too.
00:29What's going on?
00:30Well, the bigger picture shows high pressure nearby,
00:32but this area of low pressure is creeping in.
00:34Not many isobars across the charts,
00:37which means that the weather's fairly slow moving.
00:39Not great big changes into Saturday.
00:42There's still an old weather front across Northern Scotland
00:44bringing cloud and patchy rain.
00:46And we will see cloud and rain creeping in
00:48to parts of Western Scotland
00:50and Northern Ireland through the day.
00:51One or two showers are possible across the South.
00:54But for the bulk of England, Wales, Southern Scotland,
00:57it's a dry, bright day
00:58with some sunny spells.
01:00And it's actually quite warm again by the afternoon.
01:02Temperatures likely to be up into the high teens,
01:05low 20s across parts of the South.
01:07Cooler with the thicker cloud in the far Northwest.
01:11Now, that thicker cloud in the far Northwest
01:13is from this weather front in this area of low pressure,
01:15which is influencing things more and more
01:17through the weekends.
01:18The isobars are squeezing together,
01:20the breeze picking up,
01:21and this weather front in particular
01:23swinging across the country on Sunday
01:25will bring more cloud
01:27and also some outbreaks of rain initially in the West.
01:29So much of eastern England will have a dry,
01:32fine start to Sunday
01:33and will probably stay dry in East Anglia
01:35and the Southeast for most of the day.
01:37Elsewhere, though, we will see at least a spell
01:39of rather dull and drab weather
01:41with some outbreaks of rain
01:43that clear through from Scotland and Northern Ireland
01:45to bring some afternoon sunshine
01:47and a few showers and probably drying up,
01:49brightening up too late in the day for Northern England
01:51and parts of West Wales.
01:53A line of rain and drizzle is that weather front
01:56and it also is a cold front,
01:58so it marks the boundary between
02:00still some quite warm and humid air
02:02to the South and East
02:03where temperatures could again get up into the high teens,
02:06maybe low 20s.
02:07So quite a humid feel here
02:09and fresher, cooler air following in behind.
02:11And it's the fresher air that wins out
02:14as we go into Bank Holiday Monday.
02:15That weather front swings through
02:17and just look at this cooler air
02:19pushing its way right across into Southern portions
02:22by the time we get to Bank Holiday Monday.
02:24And with low pressure sitting across the UK,
02:26well, that does mean there will be showers.
02:28In fact, it could be quite a wet day
02:29for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:31For England and Wales,
02:32well, you'd be dodging and dancing between the downpours.
02:35It won't rain all day,
02:36but there will be some quite heavy showers around.
02:38But between the showers,
02:40there will at times still be some sunshine.
02:43So it is a bit of a mixed picture
02:44through the course of the weekend.
02:45It's one thing you'll definitely notice,
02:47those temperatures dropping away,
02:48a much fresher feel by the time we get to Monday,
02:51temperatures more widely in the mid-teens,
02:53maybe the high teens across the South,
02:56but the temperatures over to the low 20s
02:58will be a thing of the past.
02:59So it's definitely turning cooler this weekend.
03:01Overall, a bit of a mixed picture.
03:03If you're after some fine and sunny weather,
03:05then Saturday is your best bet.
