Hello. The late Maybank holiday is upon us.
00:03
And how's the weather looking?
00:05
Well, if you have to find dry, sunny weather,
00:07
Saturday is your best bet.
00:09
Most places will have some sunshine on Saturday.
00:11
It'll feel quite warm for most as well.
00:14
We will see changes through the weekend with
00:16
an increase in cloud through Sunday.
00:18
And that leads to a much cooler,
00:20
fresher day for most on Monday.
00:23
And that will be a case of dodging the showers as well.
00:25
Some sunshine on Monday, but also
00:27
plenty of showers to come too.
00:29
What's going on?
00:30
Well, the bigger picture shows high pressure nearby,
00:32
but this area of low pressure is creeping in.
00:34
Not many isobars across the charts,
00:37
which means that the weather's fairly slow moving.
00:39
Not great big changes into Saturday.
00:42
There's still an old weather front across Northern Scotland
00:44
bringing cloud and patchy rain.
00:46
And we will see cloud and rain creeping in
00:48
to parts of Western Scotland
00:50
and Northern Ireland through the day.
00:51
One or two showers are possible across the South.
00:54
But for the bulk of England, Wales, Southern Scotland,
00:57
it's a dry, bright day
00:58
with some sunny spells.
01:00
And it's actually quite warm again by the afternoon.
01:02
Temperatures likely to be up into the high teens,
01:05
low 20s across parts of the South.
01:07
Cooler with the thicker cloud in the far Northwest.
01:11
Now, that thicker cloud in the far Northwest
01:13
is from this weather front in this area of low pressure,
01:15
which is influencing things more and more
01:17
through the weekends.
01:18
The isobars are squeezing together,
01:20
the breeze picking up,
01:21
and this weather front in particular
01:23
swinging across the country on Sunday
01:25
will bring more cloud
01:27
and also some outbreaks of rain initially in the West.
01:29
So much of eastern England will have a dry,
01:32
fine start to Sunday
01:33
and will probably stay dry in East Anglia
01:35
and the Southeast for most of the day.
01:37
Elsewhere, though, we will see at least a spell
01:39
of rather dull and drab weather
01:41
with some outbreaks of rain
01:43
that clear through from Scotland and Northern Ireland
01:45
to bring some afternoon sunshine
01:47
and a few showers and probably drying up,
01:49
brightening up too late in the day for Northern England
01:51
and parts of West Wales.
01:53
A line of rain and drizzle is that weather front
01:56
and it also is a cold front,
01:58
so it marks the boundary between
02:00
still some quite warm and humid air
02:02
to the South and East
02:03
where temperatures could again get up into the high teens,
02:06
maybe low 20s.
02:07
So quite a humid feel here
02:09
and fresher, cooler air following in behind.
02:11
And it's the fresher air that wins out
02:14
as we go into Bank Holiday Monday.
02:15
That weather front swings through
02:17
and just look at this cooler air
02:19
pushing its way right across into Southern portions
02:22
by the time we get to Bank Holiday Monday.
02:24
And with low pressure sitting across the UK,
02:26
well, that does mean there will be showers.
02:28
In fact, it could be quite a wet day
02:29
for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:31
For England and Wales,
02:32
well, you'd be dodging and dancing between the downpours.
02:35
It won't rain all day,
02:36
but there will be some quite heavy showers around.
02:38
But between the showers,
02:40
there will at times still be some sunshine.
02:43
So it is a bit of a mixed picture
02:44
through the course of the weekend.
02:45
It's one thing you'll definitely notice,
02:47
those temperatures dropping away,
02:48
a much fresher feel by the time we get to Monday,
02:51
temperatures more widely in the mid-teens,
02:53
maybe the high teens across the South,
02:56
but the temperatures over to the low 20s
02:58
will be a thing of the past.
02:59
So it's definitely turning cooler this weekend.
03:01
Overall, a bit of a mixed picture.
03:03
If you're after some fine and sunny weather,
03:05
then Saturday is your best bet.
03:06
