00:00Good news for Meralco's customers, because there's a discount on October's electricity bill.

00:05Let's find out how much it is in the words of Bernard Ferrero.

00:11Good news, Meralco's electricity bill will be reduced by 36 cents per kilowatt-hour for the month of October.

00:19This is in response to a reduction in the generation charge for a lower bill

00:23from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, or WESEM.

00:27The reduction of the average demand of 544 megawatts and the average capacity on outage of 519 megawatts

00:34also helped with the reduction of the bill from WESEM.

00:39The summer costs have been amortized.

00:43If you remember, in May, the ERC said that the incremental costs should not be reduced.

00:49Instead, it was amortized over four months.

00:52It was amortized last month.

00:53But even without that, the WESEM charges in the spot market also went down.

00:59Aside from this, the transmission charge also went down,

01:01as well as the electricity bill and other charges,

01:04while there was no change in the distribution charge of Meralco.

01:08The reduction in the consumption of 200 kilowatt-hours is at 72 pesos,

01:13and the consumption of 300 kilowatt-hours is at 108 pesos,

01:17while the reduction in the consumption of 400 kilowatt-hours is at 143 pesos,

01:22and the consumption of 500 kilowatt-hours is at 179 pesos.

01:27But Meralco explained that the reduction in the consumption of electricity would be greater in October

01:32if there is no one-billion-peso bill per month that lasts for 12 months under the GSPA.

01:40If now we have a reduction of 35 centavos per kilowatt-hour in overall rates,

01:46the overall reduction would be around 6 to 8 centavos

01:49if there is no additional cost from the Malampaya Consortium.

01:54Meanwhile, Meralco again reminded customers

01:57to only make transactions with authorized entities of the company

02:01to avoid being victimized by fraud.
