How safe is your suburb? Voters' views on crime ahead of the election.

00:02I used to think that, but recently I've heard there's been a lot of break-ins.

00:07My parents' house also got broken into recently, which was really, really scary.

00:11We were all actually in the house at the time as well.

00:13I always thought Canberra's really safe and so it was pretty shocking to hear.

00:20People should, you know, think more than twice before doing anything like that.

00:25I think there is a need for more police presence here.

00:28Would you say Canberra's a safe city?

00:30Yes. I don't really feel like any sense of threat when I'm walking around.

00:36Everyone in the neighbourhood seems really nice.

00:38I kind of think that there should be investment in other areas to reduce crime, if that's an issue.

00:45Early childhood services and housing and health and, yeah, I guess more like pro-social

00:53things, that's probably a better use of money than investing in more police.

00:59For what I know, I think Wright's probably one of the safest spots in Canberra.

01:03I haven't seen anything bad or anything like that, so yeah, I think it's pretty safe.

01:06My vote would depend on, I guess, taking care of the city overall.

01:11I mean, I don't know why I'd vote, but I'd have to do some research into it, yeah.

01:18I would simply say I simply never had a situation where, my God, if only I had a policeman,

01:25they wouldn't have stolen this in my street or whatever.

01:29But that has not happened yet.

01:31I voted in the election.

01:34The record, they're good character.

01:38They're good records, if there are any, of having done what they said.
