00:00The Minnesota Lynx was able to secure their spot in the 2024 WNBA Finals

00:06after winning the semifinals against Connecticut Sun in Game 5.

00:10Here's Darren O'Clarice's first look.

00:16In the first time ever, since 2017, the Minnesota Lynx returned to the WNBA Finals

00:24after winning 88-77 in the semifinals in Game 5 against Connecticut Sun this Wednesday.

00:32Raining Defensive Player of the Year, Fiza Collier,

00:38who scored double-double, 27 points, and 11 rebounds,

00:42was the one to kill the Minnesota Lynx.

00:47After a 9-4 lead in the first quarter,

00:51the Minnesota Lynx slowly improved their offense

00:54and became a reason for the Lynx to secure a spot in the 2019 WNBA Finals.

01:01Since then, the Lynx hasn't let the Connecticut Lynx down

01:06in order to secure a spot in the WNBA Finals.

01:11At the post-game press conference,

01:13head coach Cheryl Reeve praised the team's performance.

01:21Our staff wanted this for them.

01:23We've all experienced it, as you mentioned.

01:26But this group has just been a really special group

01:29and the number of people that have reached out to me

01:32to tell me how much they enjoy watching them play

01:35and they do things the right way and that we're rooting for them.

01:38And so I just overwhelmingly felt proud.

01:41Proud for how we played.

01:43We played Lynx basketball tonight.

01:45Reeve also asked what will be Minnesota's next move

01:49to increase the chance of winning the New York Liberty.

01:53We're happy that we're going to the Finals,

01:55but we're not going to be just happy to be there.

01:57I've never coached a championship team that didn't play defense.

01:59Sure, your offense can be special, but if you don't play defense,

02:02it's really hard to get to the promised land.

02:04And so we just wanted to improve our defense.

02:07I thought we did that.

02:08Game 1 of the 2024 WNBA Finals

02:12will take place between New York and Minnesota

02:15on Friday at 8 a.m. in the Philippines.
