00:00The pandemic had a drastic impact on the lives of children all across Wales and the rest
00:05of the world. Schools were shut and the way young people received their education changed
00:10and has since not fully changed back. New learning habits, ways of teaching and the
00:15amount of online learning all came about and concerns are being raised that it hasn't returned
00:20in the way people had originally hoped. Thousands of hours of school had been lost in 2020 and
00:25that continued into 2021 and the years that followed. And while there have been improvements,
00:31one council among many more in a similar pattern has said that school attendance levels still
00:35haven't reached pre-pandemic levels. The Vale of Glamorgan Council have said that they hoped
00:41more children would be attending school as regularly as they were and a consistent number
00:46of exclusions is adding to the concerns that children are not in school enough. The local
00:51authority have said they want to learn more about their students' lives and hope to be
00:55able to work around the problems that arise with the pupils.
