Queensland Labor leader pledges 10,000’s new staff for health workforce

The Queensland Premier has pledged tens of thousands new staff for its health workforce, if Labor is re-elected when the state heads to the polls.

00:08to expand the workforce.

00:10If Labor is re-elected, it aims to add more than 42,000 new health staff to the workforce,

00:16which would include almost 16,000 frontline staff in the next four years, all at a cost

00:23of more than $330 million.

00:26Now health has been a key focus for both major parties this week, and the Premier has

00:31used today's announcement to criticise the LNP's funding and note that early voting opens

00:36soon in Queensland.

00:37Now LNP State Leader David Christopher-Lee says his plans are fully funded and fully

00:42costed.

00:43We're here in the electorate of Moggill, a marginal LNP seat held by Shadow Education

00:49Minister Dr Christian Rowan.

00:51Now while his margin is below 4%, it's considered the LNP's safest Brisbane seat and is unlikely

00:58to lose it, with the LNP holding it since its inception in the 80s.
