00:00Electric vehicles have dominated the new car industry over the last few years, and that
00:06won't be going away anytime soon, as in roughly a decade or so, all new cars in the UK will
00:12need to be electric, so organisations, councils and governments are racing to keep up with
00:17the increased demand.
00:19Cardiff Council have become the latest local authority to dedicate time and money into
00:24increasing the number of charging points around the city, as part of their electric vehicle
00:28infrastructure roadmap. They plan to reach up to 700 charging points by 2026. The number
00:36is hoped to be reached partly by the council building around 100 over the next two years,
00:41along with commercial sites and properties increasing their numbers alongside that.
00:46The council have wider plans to lower carbon emissions across the city, with 41% of the
00:511.6 million tonnes of carbon currently coming from transport, so will put a heavy focus
00:56on improving in that area.
