00:00Former President Donald J. Trump made good on his vow to complete his rally in Butler,

00:06Pennsylvania, where he almost lost his life to an assassin's bullet on July 13.

00:12This time he had the world's richest man with him as they spewed at barrage of outright

00:16lies and misinformation.

00:18Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris goes on the hustlings by way of a media blitz with

00:24high-profile talk shows on TV and radio as VOA's Veronica Balderas Iglesias reports.

00:33Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was defiant Saturday while addressing his

00:39supporters at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

00:42It was the same area where a shooter wounded him in July during an assassination attempt.

00:48He stressed that the incident, the first of two attempts on his life, only made him more

00:53determined to win the presidential election.

00:57Over the past eight years, those who want to stop us from achieving this future have

01:02slandered me, impeached me, indicted me, tried to throw me off the ballot.

01:08And who knows, maybe even tried to kill me.

01:11House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, was asked to comment on Trump's remarks and

01:16similar ones made over the weekend by the former president's son, Eric.

01:21I don't think they're saying that the Democratic Party tried an assassination attempt.

01:26I think what they're alluding to is what we've all been saying.

01:29They have got to turn their rhetoric down.

01:31Meanwhile, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has been juggling her duties

01:37as vice president with her campaign schedule.

01:41On Saturday, she was in North Carolina pledging federal support to communities affected by

01:46Hurricane Helene.

01:48A day earlier, Harris brought attention to the state of the presidential race.

01:54This is going to be a very tight race until the very end.

01:58Democratic Representative Adam Schiff was asked Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press whether

02:03he believes Harris and the Democrats can win overwhelmingly in November.

02:09I think she can win overwhelmingly, you know, given how divided the country is.

02:15Overwhelming may be winning by 100,000 votes or 80,000 votes in these key battleground

02:21states.

02:22Young people who were disengaged are now engaged, interested, active, volunteering.

02:27So I think we are well-poised to win this thing, but it is still scary close.

02:34The vice president will be busy with a series of media engagements this week, including

02:39appearances on popular talk shows her campaign announced.

02:44She's also expected to campaign in Nevada on Thursday and in Arizona on Friday.

02:51The Trump campaign website says the former president will travel to Pennsylvania on Wednesday

02:57to give remarks in Scranton and hold a rally that same day in the city of Reading.
