00:00Hey fellow wanderers, welcome to a mind-boggling expedition across the globe.
00:05We'll be visiting a list of places and cities so surreal, they'll make you question whether the Matrix glitched.
00:11Or at least they'll make you want to Google them to see if the images weren't generated by AI.
00:16This first place will transport you straight into the realm of a trippy sci-fi flick.
00:21Have you ever been anywhere where the ground could double as the world's largest mirror?
00:26Here, you'll feel like you're floating in a pixelated dreamscape.
00:30Although AI could come up with something similar, this place is located in Bolivia.
00:34It's called the Uyuni Salt Flats.
00:37The Salt Flats are the world's largest salt desert, spawning over 3,900 SQ.
00:42My, can you believe it?
00:44If it's a sunny day, you'll get to witness this surreal phenomenon.
00:48The sky reflecting directly on the ground beneath you.
00:51And don't worry, it's all scientific.
00:54The salt plants are the result of 40,000 years of evaporation of local lakes.
00:58The remains create small craters filled with salty water.
01:01If you get the chance, stay until the stars appear.
01:04It's a pretty one-of-a-kind experience.
01:07Now, according to the World Health Organization,
01:10in 35 years, over two-thirds of the global population will be living in cities.
01:15But what will cities look like in 35 years?
01:18I asked an AI to describe what it thinks cities will be like in the near future.
01:22And this is what I got.
01:25The cityscape takes on a mesmerizing blend of innovation, sustainability, and artistic grandeur.
01:31Imagine towering skyscrapers with facades that morph into digital canvases.
01:36On the streets, electric vehicles are everywhere.
01:39Lush green rooftops have dominated the buildings.
01:42Holographic advertisements flicker and dance above storefronts.
01:46Technology is an integral part of everyday life.
01:50It sounds to me like this AI has been watching some episodes of The Jetsons, huh?
01:54To date, we don't have anything like that.
01:57We do have places such as Tokyo, in Japan,
02:00which scored the highest in a 2018 ranking for technological cities.
02:04Forget the classic Japanese smart toilets.
02:07We're talking about a city that has been trialing self-driving vehicles.
02:11When walking into the Akihabara district in Tokyo,
02:14you'll probably feel like a Blade Runner character.
02:16You'll not only find the latest technological advancements in their stores,
02:20but you'll also feel like you've time-traveled into the near future.
02:24Oh, and speaking of Japan, take a good look at this picture.
02:27If you had to guess how an AI came up with the idea for this,
02:31what would you say the original prompt was?
02:33I'd say it was something along the lines of,
02:35the arrival meets Chihiro's journey.
02:38As much as this image looks fabricated, this place exists IRL.
02:42This statue is located in the town of Sendai, in Japan.
02:46It's the fifth tallest statue in the world,
02:48standing at a staggering 330 feet tall.
02:51You can see from all over town, apparently.
02:54How good are humans at building stuff on water?
02:57I'd say we're pretty good.
02:59As master builders and innovators,
03:01we've experimented with building in many different types of terrain.
03:04Since our planet is 70% water, why not use that to our advantage?
03:09But can you believe we built this?
03:11This beauty took only two years to build, and...
03:13Nah, I'm just messing with you.
03:15This isn't real. Not yet, at least.
03:18We did build this, though.
03:20This Danish enterprise is called the Urban Rigger,
03:22and it's basically a student city built on water.
03:25The project was designed in 2018 by world-renowned architects.
03:29And it's got everything.
03:30Containers for buildings, a centralized courtyard for social events,
03:33and everything built on a floating platform.
03:37This place seems like it would be possible only in a dream state.
03:40First, because of its highly unidentifiable nature.
03:43Is it a waterfall?
03:45A crane-slash-hanging walkway?
03:47A Belvedere?
03:48Who knows?
03:49When it comes to larger-than-life sightseeing spots,
03:52it doesn't get bigger than this.
03:54I know what you're going to say.
03:56This place isn't real.
03:58And I would agree with you if I hadn't done the research
04:00and found out that this place is called
04:02Guangdong's Highest Sky Corridor Waterfall Walkway.
04:06And believe me, it is real.
04:08This gigantic, racket-like walkway in the sky
04:11rated five stars in my Awesome Meter.
04:14Built above a gorge in Qingwan,
04:16the place is a treat for anyone who loves iconic
04:18and seemingly impossible architecture.
04:21And the best part is,
04:23the structure has hundreds of water nozzles
04:25that will simulate the effect of a substantial waterfall.
04:28At night, the water is lit,
04:30and a playlist-oriented light show takes place.
04:33Forget Fantasia.
04:35This is where the magic lives.
04:37And what do we have here?
04:39If you've seen Star Wars,
04:40you've probably seen images similar to this one.
04:43Floating vehicle platforms to dock floating cars.
04:47While our visions of future cities tend to be something like this,
04:50Elon Musk's futuristic transportation system
04:53envisions something different altogether.
04:55Instead of going above ground,
04:57he believes we should continue digging underground.
04:59He's naming his transportation company
05:01the Boring Company, pun intended.
05:04And he's already testing self-driving Tesla cars
05:06to move as fast as they can inside the tracks he wants to build.
05:11Say you went to enjoy a lovely summer vacation.
05:14On your last day,
05:16you packed everything and headed to the airport.
05:18But one hour before boarding,
05:20your flight got cancelled.
05:22This situation would be enough to bum anyone out.
05:25But thanks to the uniqueness of this airport,
05:28you were actually excited to have some extra time to explore it.
05:31The architects of this place managed to create
05:33a magic-like tropical forest inside an airport building.
05:37It's replete with artificial waterfalls and boulevards
05:40of the luscious green bushes you'll ever see indoors.
05:44Of course, the main attraction is the waterfall.
05:47It works as a cascading funnel of water
05:49that drops 130 feet from the core of the building.
05:53My question to you is,
05:54is this place real or not?
05:56Yup, you bet it's real.
05:58You're looking at the Singapore Changi Airport.
06:01I'd easily say AI came up with this though.
06:04Picture this.
06:06You're walking through a labyrinth of caves
06:08that gets darker and darker by the minute.
06:11You're 150 feet into the ground.
06:13It's pitch black.
06:15When suddenly,
06:16it looks as if some magical force started to turn
06:19on little blinking blue lights,
06:21hundreds and even thousands of them.
06:23Until it looks like you're on the inside of an alien galaxy.
06:27Would you say this is real?
06:29Luckily for us humans,
06:30this place exists,
06:32and it's located in New Zealand.
06:34The Waitomo Caves are famous for hosting glowworms,
06:37which are the ones responsible for this wondrous phenomenon.
06:41Points for Earth for creating this beauty.
06:44Hey, AI,
06:45can you show me what a cheap,
06:46sustainable and cozy house for one would look like
06:48in 20 years time?
06:50Okay, this looks interesting.
06:52It looks functional and stylish at the same time.
06:54What if I asked you to make it look like an egg?
06:57Well, then maybe the system bugs, right?
06:59This real-life egg house is a shout-out to human ingenuity.
07:02I mean, can you believe a person came up with this idea?
07:05You've got to love humans.
07:07A 24-year-old architecture student
07:09decided to build what he calls a sleep pod
07:11and placed it in the middle of the sidewalk.
07:14The pod has enough space for a bed,
07:16a water tank and a small night table.
07:18It's got grass seed plants all over it
07:20so that with time,
07:21the rain and the sun will turn it into a luscious green pod.
07:25I mean, I don't think AI could ever beat this creative endeavor.
07:29To finish off this exploration,
07:31how about one more guess?
07:33This is the kind of place you visit and think to yourself,
07:36I've never been anywhere as beautiful as this.
07:38It's just so perfect it looks unreal.
07:41Well, my friends, that's because it isn't real, sure.
07:44AI is inspired by our world's real-life nature.
07:47But this place here only exists in data form
07:49and some cloud storage.
07:50Yikes!
07:53That's it for today.
07:54So, hey, if you pacified your curiosity,
