Walsall residents have their say on Walsall's new corgi sculptures

Residents have said that two new sculptures are 'beautiful' to look at, if now slightly confusing.

00:03taking a look at the brand new corgi statues that have been erected in commemoration of

00:06Queen Elizabeth II.

00:07Yeah, so we're down here getting the public reaction, seeing what they think of it and

00:11generally speaking they absolutely love them.

00:13They do say that they're a little bit bigger than a regular sized corgi, which I'm pretty

00:17sure the late Queen would have absolutely adored.

00:20So yeah, we have been seeing a bit more footfall in Walsall Arboretum, just people coming to

00:24have a look at the new statues, bringing their own dogs down, their children and whatnot.

00:28So yeah, generally speaking, people absolutely love the new statues.

00:31The only negative comments that we've had so far is the price tag, with some people

00:35saying that the money that was spent to get the corgis here and to make the corgis could

00:39have been better spent on maybe fixing the roads and whatnot and other stuff.

00:43But generally speaking, people absolutely love them.

00:45Even the naysayers do say that they're absolutely fantastic art pieces to put in there.

00:49The only, one of the other issues is that some people have asked what they're in commemoration

00:53for, so maybe a nice plaque on there just saying what they're about would be good.

00:57But yeah, generally speaking, they're absolutely lovely pieces.

01:00You can definitely tell that they're corgis, although they are a bit terrifying to stand

01:03by because I've never seen a corgi that big.
