00:00The kickoff day for the filing of candidacies of wannabe lawmakers and local leaders was

00:05filled with the lively and joyous noise and colorful sights from the candidates and their

00:09support system.

00:10The more low-profile ones who shunned the crowds and the press came alone or with one

00:15companion or two in tow.

00:17But as our Luisa Erizpe reports, the rabid and partisan supporters dominated even with

00:22the weather not so cooperative.

00:31Left and right drumroll and left and right glamour.

00:35This is the scene outside the Manila Hotel Tent City where the filing of the certificates

00:39of candidacy are for the national positions in the 2025 elections.

00:45Despite scattered rain showers in Manila, supporters still held forth outside to cheer

00:50for their political bets.

00:52First are the supporters of Agri Partylist Rep. Wilbert Lee who paraded themselves outside

00:58as early as 6 in the morning.

01:01Lee is shooting for his Senate seat and will have an uphill battle going forward.

01:06Aside from Lee, there are also partylists who brought their supporters for today's filing,

01:11such as Kabayan Partylist who also brought drums and paraded along Quirino Avenue.

01:21Even the Bayan Muna Partylist held a program before their nominees submitted their COCs.

01:27But there are also partylists who had few problems with the new rules of COMELEC asking

01:32for 10 nominees instead of 5, such as the Aga Partylist, but was later on settled by

01:37the group.

02:09So while there were nominees and aspirants who brought their groups of supporters, many

02:17came with one or two in tow and simply filed their COCs without fanfare, such as re-electionist

02:24Senator Francis Toledino and a vlogger slash senatorial aspirant.

02:29Another is one who quietly filed his COC and even brought his own tarpaulins outside the

02:35venue.

02:36Lee is running for his Senate seat, but when he introduced himself, he provided some entertainment

02:41and amusement in front of the media.

02:43I need you in my life, life is meaningless without you.

02:49I have filed my COC many times and I was disqualified, but now I have a chance to talk to the CEO

02:56based on my refusal to be disqualified.

03:00According to the Manila Police District, it is expected during the filing of COCs, supporters

03:05will flock outside the venue, but they assured the public that the area is safe even for

03:10the supporters themselves.

03:11We are just asking them to be there on one side and just give so that other groups can

03:20also go there to support their candidate.

03:24For today's filing, a hundred police enforcers were deployed.

03:28The PNP vows to augment forces if need be until October 8.
