Iconic hit musical ‘Grease’ is coming to Colne’s Pendle Hippodrome Theatre

The iconic hit musical ‘Grease’ is coming to Colne’s Pendle Hippodrome Theatre next week.  Performed by the amazingly talented senior students from Burnley’s Basics Theatre School, the show runs from Tuesday to Saturday, October 8th to the 12th.

00:00My name is Darcy Brown and I'm playing Sandy.

00:07My name is Felix Noden and I'm playing Danny Zuka.

00:14So Grease is about Vidal High School but more importantly two students, Sandy and Danny,

00:20who meet on holiday and they fall in love quickly.

00:24And then obviously holiday went over and they both had to go back to school.

00:28Turns out they actually go back to the same school but neither of them know.

00:32They meet each other. Sandy's the same girl but Danny's changed.

00:36Danny is the heartthrob of Vidal High. All the girls want him.

00:40All the lads think he's cool and he's got quite a big ego.

00:44He thinks he can kind of get away with what he wants and get whichever girl he wants,

00:48which it is kind of true.

00:50Grease follows the story of Sandy and Danny's relationship

00:54but also the friendships of the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies.

00:58Sandy starts off as a very naive and innocent character

01:03and throughout the show she progresses and by the end she's this strong, bold, confident character.

01:09All the iconic songs are in it. Obviously it's an iconic film and it's very well known

01:15and so it's suitable for little kids, for family and yeah, it's just so good.

01:20My favourite part is probably Grease Lightning because it's one of the most iconic songs.

01:26You know, it's all the lads just having a great time around the car

01:30and it's just a really fun number to do.

01:33Oh, there's so many amazing songs. I love Summer Nights, Grease is the Word

01:38and I do love Hope's Lead Vote as well.

01:41The level of effort that goes into these shows is like, it's phenomenal.

01:46The set, the costume, the ensemble, the directing, the choreographing, the music,

01:51there's so much that goes into these shows and it always really pays off at the end.

01:56Basics is an incredibly, incredibly talented place, full of talented performers, got incredible staff.

02:02Many students that have come here have actually gone on to huge drama schools,

02:07some have gone on to the West End, so it really shows you the incredible training that you get here at Basics.

02:13It's genuinely like a West End standard show and it's so funny and uplifting, so you should definitely buy a ticket.

02:20It's fun for the entire family, it's a great show to come and watch

02:26and everyone will leave with an incredibly, incredibly big smile on their face.
