The US $130 million, TT $885 million Tobago Airport Expansion project is about 80% completed. This from Finance Minister Colm Imbert, as he spoke during the national budget presentation on Monday. 00:00Even as Finance Minister Colm Imbert presented his 10th budget presentation,
00:06he focused on the number of issues affecting Tobago,
00:09inclusive of the A&R Robinson International Airport Expansion Project.
00:14This two-phase project involves, firstly, the modernization and upgrade
00:20of the existing terminal building at Crown Point to improve the current service level.
00:25Minister Imbert delved into the major aspects of the A&R Robinson International Airport Expansion Project.
00:32Other major works include the construction of a taxi shelter and car park west of the terminal.
00:38This phase of the project was completed in August 2022 at a cost of $39 million.
00:45Minister Imbert spoke to another phase of the project, focusing on the environmental aspect.
00:52The second phase is a new state-of-the-art terminal building
00:56designed under LEED Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification,
01:02which offers environmental, social and governance benefits
01:06that would significantly enhance passengers' experience and operational efficiency.
01:11Imbert said, despite some supply chain issues,
01:14the A&R Robinson International Airport Expansion Project is 80% completed.
