Sheffield 10k: Thousands come together in memory of loved ones and to fundraise for local causes

00:00The excitement is building this morning as thousands of people descend on Sheffield City

00:07Centre to take part in the Sheffield 10K. The 10K is part of Jane Tomlinson's rumble.

00:16Now Jane, who suffered from terminal breast cancer, was a key manner and an amateur athlete

00:21who raised £1.85 million for charity despite her illness.

00:27We can see her legacy in action today as thousands of people take part for local charities and

00:32for other good causes such as what Tim Tomlinson is doing.

00:36Today we're running for our friend Tom who sadly passed away in July.

00:40We've raised a considerable amount of money for his two daughters who are here today all with banners.

00:47Yeah, Tom, energetic kind of guy, really life and soul about him.

00:53Obviously sadly he's not here today so we're bringing everybody together in remembrance of him.

01:00I'm supporting my mum and she's doing the run for Macmillan County.

01:05We're doing it in memory of Ruby's great-grandmother who's known as Gigi's.

01:09How many members of the family are running? About 10.

01:12About 10 people are running today and we've weighed £750 for Macmillan and it's going to be a fantastic day.

01:18Macmillan, of course, also has the backing of John Bercow today who is doing his 1,050th race for the charity.

01:25I didn't think I'd do that but I have done it and we've raised about £1.2 million for Macmillan

01:31and doing it as well so it's been fantastic, it's been fantastic.

01:34When I'm pushing this ramp all my daughters with me and my wives with me and they've been around

01:40and that's what's been good, being able to get me around.

01:48It's a day that keeps you going, there's so many nice people along the way, that's what it'll do for me.

01:52It really keeps me going all the way.

01:54And even on the uphills don't need to go in to show you've got a downhill coming.

01:57Yeah, they're the best bits of the downhill.

01:59Fantastic atmosphere.
