Sheffield 10k: Thousands come together in memory of loved ones and to fundraise for local causes

00:00The excitement is building this morning as thousands of people descend on Sheffield City

00:07Centre to take part in the Sheffield 10K. The 10K is part of Jane Tomlinson's rumble

00:15hall. Now Jane, who suffered from terminal breast cancer, was a key manner and an Amazon

00:20client who raised £1.85 million for charity despite her illness.

00:26We can see her legacy in action today as thousands of people take part for local charities

00:32and for other good causes such as what Team Tom have been doing.

00:55I'm supporting my mum and she's doing the run for Macmillan Charity.

01:05We're doing it in memory of Ruby's great grandmother whose name is Gigi's and there's

01:09how many members of the family are running? About 10. About 10 people are running today

01:13and we've weighed £750 for Macmillan and it's going to be a fantastic day.

01:18Macmillan, of course, also has the backing of John Berkey today who is doing his 1,050th

01:24race for the charity.

01:25I didn't think I'd do that but I have done it and there's that £1.2 million for Macmillan

01:31and doing it as well so it's fantastic. It's fantastic. When I'm pushing these trams,

01:36both my daughters with me and my wife with me and they've hit me around and that's what

01:41keeps me going, being able to get me around.

01:47It really keeps me going. There's so many nice people along the way, that's all good

01:51for me. It really keeps me going all the way.

01:53And even on the uphills, so if you go in today you've got a downhill coming.

01:57Yeah, the best bit is the downhill.

01:59Fantastic atmosphere. We'll be back next year.
