EU states urge their remaining nationals to leave Lebanon immediately

The EU has warned airlines to avoid Israeli and Lebanese airspace for a month, whilst many states urge their citizens in Lebanon to leave immediately.

00:12In their recommendation, the EU warned of an overall intensification of airstrikes and

00:17degradation in the security situation.

00:20British nationals in Lebanon were warned to leave the country immediately as the violence

00:24intensifies.

00:26Lebanon's transport ministry also told an Iranian aircraft not to enter its airspace

00:31after Israel warned air traffic control in Beirut it would use force if the plane landed.

00:37The news came after Hezbollah confirmed their leader Hassan Nasrallah had been killed in

00:41an Israeli airstrike, for which the Palestinian group Hamas issued a statement conveying condolences.

00:48The Iraqi prime minister declared a three-day period of mourning in his country following

00:52Nasrallah's death, and Iran's supreme leader slammed what he called criminal Israel following

00:58the attack.
