00:00A raging ocean and violent winds as Hurricane Helene hit the coastal city of Tampa hard

00:08overnight. By the early hours of the morning, the city's streets were underwater and boats

00:13had capsized. Several people have been killed since the hurricane made landfall on the west

00:19coast of Florida Thursday night.

00:23The storm has since weakened, but remains extremely dangerous according to the authorities.

00:28A state of emergency has been imposed across almost the entire state.

00:51Amid winds of over 140 kilometers an hour, the storm has swept across Florida to neighboring

00:57Georgia and is moving north through the Carolinas. At least 2.7 million homes and businesses

01:03are without power in these four states.

01:07Helene is particularly widespread and more than 55 million Americans are under some form

01:12of weather alert or warning.

01:15The U.S. National Hurricane Center has warned of potentially life-threatening flooding and

01:21numerous landslides in the Appalachians.
