00:31President Marcos told Agriculture Secretary Francisco Chu Laurel Jr. that the ASF is still pursuing the effort of the government to lower food inflation.
00:43In his press briefing, the Secretary said that the Department of Agriculture will complete the purchase of 600,000 doses of ASF vaccines by December.
00:54The first 10,000 doses of vaccination will be finished by the end of the month.
00:59The schedule for the award for the next 450,000 doses is October 10, of which we will take delivery of 150,000 doses by then.
01:11But we hope to complete the procurement of 600,000 doses by the end of December this year.
01:17The DA and the Food and Drug Administration first announced that 150,000 doses of ASF vaccines from a Vietnam-based company will be rolled out this month.
01:29The pigs will be vaccinated first from eligible commercial farms, semi-commercial enterprises, and clustered backyard farms.
01:38The agency also stated that a rapid vaccination against ASF is needed to increase the number of pigs.
01:46Hopefully, everything will be implemented on schedule and next year we will be repopulating.
01:55The DA's target is to bring back the number of pigs in the country to 14 million from 7.5 million so far.
