Brussels takes China to the WTO over 'questionable' probe into EU dairy products

The call for WTO consultations comes as EU and Chinese officials step up talks on the dispute around electric vehicles.

00:00The European Union doesn't trust the Chinese investigation on European dairy products.

00:07Brussels believes it's based on questionable allegations and insufficient evidence.

00:12This is why, for the first time, it has challenged the investigation in front of the World Trade

00:16Organization and asked for it to be looked into.

00:20We are of the firm view that China's decision to initiate this dairy investigation is not

00:25in line with WTO rules, so we are therefore taking action to protect our industry.

00:30The dairy industry is a collateral casualty of an ongoing trade dispute between China

00:35and the European Union.

00:36The Chinese probe was launched in late August, a few hours after the European Commission

00:41confirmed the tariffs on Chinese electrical vehicles.

00:45As a result, the European Dairy Association now feels like they are the victim.
