00:00Perikatan Nasional's claim that a proposed agreement on constituency allocations for
00:06opposition MPs contravenes the federal constitution is untrue and insincere.
00:11UMNO Youth Leader Wan Agil Wan Hassan said this, adding that the allegations made by
00:16PM Chairman Muhyiddin Yassin and Secretary-General Hamzah Zainuddin were devoid of proof.
00:22He said Hamzah did not explain which parts of the Memorandum of Understanding were problematic,
00:26or how it would harm the special rights of Malays and Boriputras.
00:30Wan Agil said the draft MOU which PM rejected
00:33clearly upheld the federal constitution and the framework of a parliamentary democracy.
00:39A central focus of the MOU was on promoting dignity and equality for everyone,
00:43regardless of race, religion, language or culture, he said.
00:47Wan Agil also said claims that the MOU impinged on Malay and Boriputra rights
00:51seem more like a political tactic than a genuine concern.
00:55Meanwhile, Subang UMNO Chief Arman Azhar Abu Hanifa urged the opposition,
01:00especially Hamzah, to stop such polemics and prioritise the welfare of the people.
01:04Arman said it was time for Hamzah to move forward and suggest alternative provisions
01:09to improve the MOU instead of politicising the matter to confuse the people and create uneasiness.
