My name's Peter Hewlin. I'm running in the Patobe Ward. I've been a councillor previously
00:06
on three occasions for three terms, nearly 12 years. I have lived in Patobe Ward for
00:14
25 odd years in three different locations. I think really it is the jewel in the crown
00:21
of our city. I think it has tremendous potential, especially as cities today are going more
00:27
lifestyle and I think the Patobe Ward really has all those attributes. I think one of the
00:37
issues that I do have a problem with is the cost to the community for rates. Our rates
00:42
continually are going up and the pressures on families, especially on young families,
00:47
is just ridiculous. And I believe that there are enormous amount of savings that we could
00:54
make in our council to take the financial burden off the rate payers. The things that
01:01
I'd like to see down in Patobe, I think the connections into Warrnambool itself, into
01:06
the city, I think are lacking no matter which end of Patobe you're really looking at. So
01:13
I think that's one of the things I'd like to achieve. Of course the promenade is an
01:18
issue. The surf life-saving club is at the end of its life, that has to be done. The
01:25
wolves with the soccer, there needs to be areas there for women. Just simple things
01:32
I think that I can bring to the table and a lot, a lot of experience.
