00:00The Department of Social Welfare and Development continues to remind our countrymen
00:05of the impact of the Volcano Canlaon eruption and the bad weather like Hurricane Ferdie, Hener, and Hanging Habaga.
00:14In the program of Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon,
00:16the DSWD Assistant Secretary for Disaster Response Management and Spokesperson, Irene Dumlao,
00:23the agency has already spent more than P37.9 million for financial assistance and family food packs for 23 barangays.
00:34As for the affected areas of Hurricane Ferdie, Hener, and Hanging Habaga,
00:38more than 32,000 food packs and 1,200 non-food items were distributed to more than 70 individuals
00:48while more than 500 and 80 evacuation centers from Regions 2, 4B, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, and BARM remained.
01:01Dumlao also emphasized that they are also monitoring the life-shelf or expiration of food packs
01:07that are in their warehouses from different parts of the country.
01:12As part of the program of the DSWD that provides assistance in times of calamity,
01:17the assistance to individuals in crisis situations or AICS.
01:24The DSWD continues to stockpile food packs and non-food items.
01:31In fact, our national stockpile is more than P1.7 million.
01:36It is not only found in the affected areas, but these are strategically prepositions from different parts of the country.
01:45We have a tool, it's a warehouse inventory tool where we monitor the age of the family food packs that we have prepositioned.
01:57Once the DSWD is flagged, when the goods are near expiry, we remove it from the inventory and use it for other purposes where it can be consumed easily.
