00:00I just want to note the FBI is continuing to investigate the apparent assassination attempt
00:04of the former president that occurred on Sunday in Florida. We are grateful that he is safe.
00:12The entire Justice Department, including in particular the FBI, the U.S. Attorney's Office
00:17for the Southern District of Florida, and the National Security Division
00:20are all coordinating closely with our local state law enforcement partners on the ground.
00:25We will all work together to tirelessly determine accountability in this matter.
00:33We will spare no resource in this investigation.
00:36Today, I'm signing an executive order assigning the case involving the attempted assassination
00:43of former President Donald Trump to the Office of Statewide Prosecutor under the supervision
00:48of Attorney General Ashley Moody. The suspect, Ryan Ralph, is believed to have committed state
00:54law violations across multiple judicial circuits in the state. Palm Beach Judicial Circuit,
01:00the judicial circuit including Martin County, as well as perhaps the judicial circuit represented
01:06by Broward County. Also, the state of Florida has jurisdiction over the most serious straightforward
01:13offense, which is attempted murder. I've directed state agencies to move expeditiously and provide
01:19full transparency to the public. In my judgment, it's not in the best interest of our state or our
01:25nation to have the same federal agencies that are seeking to prosecute Donald Trump leading
01:30this investigation, especially when the most serious straightforward offense constitutes a
01:36violation of state law, but not federal law. In addition to holding the suspect accountable,
01:43the public deserves to know the truth about how this assassination came to be,
01:49and I've directed all state agencies to work expeditiously to be able to uncover the truth
01:56in addition to holding this suspect accountable.
