00:00Kerala has not yet recovered from the shocking tragedy of Wayanad landslides.
00:05But what is now more painful is the way the CPM government of Kerala, it has misused and
00:12embezzled the funds that was meant for relief and rehabilitation.
00:17The reports have very well shown how crores and crores of rupees have been misused by
00:22the state government, which was meant for the relief of the people of Wayanad.
00:28It is unimaginable, 75,000 rupees was spent on the funeral of each who has lost lives
00:36in Wayanad.
00:3712 crore rupees was spent on the food for the volunteers.
00:42More than 10 crore rupees was spent for travel of the volunteers.
00:48So similarly, crores and crores of rupees have been misused by the state government
00:53in the name of Wayanad relief.
00:56We all remember, while it was in 2017 during the Oki cyclone or maybe after later in 2018
01:05during the floods of Kerala, similar things have happened.
01:09The state government always uses these disasters as an opportunity for corruption and financial
01:16gains.
01:17They always, whether it was Oki or the floods or now the Wayanad tragedy, they misused the
01:23funds and have diverted it for purposes for other things.
01:28And we all know that the state of Kerala is reeling through a huge financial crisis.
01:34Salaries have not been paid.
01:35There is a long pending dues of pensions, salaries and other arrears.
01:42And the economic crisis is looming large at Kerala.
01:45And in such a scenario, such misuse of funds, such embezzlement of funds, it shows how apathetic
01:52the state government is to the tragedy of the people.
01:56So Bharatiya Janata Party, it demands that a proper investigation should happen this
02:02time into the ways and means of how the funds of relief that was meant for Wayanad was used.
02:10And a transparent investigation should happen and the people should know how and why this
02:17large amount of money was spent in the name of volunteers and other things.
02:22Imagine a situation where organizations like Seva Bharati, Hindu spiritual organizations,
02:28even the different churches in Kerala, they all have mobilized their resources and people
02:35and volunteers and they have done the funerals and other relief work, rehabilitation work
02:41without even taking a penny from anyone.
02:44And in such a scenario, on the other hand, the Kerala government is spending 75,000 rupees
02:49on a funeral.
02:50This is an unimaginable situation and investigation has to happen as soon as possible.
