Typhoon Bebinca struck Shanghai on Monday morning as a Category 1 storm, marking the most powerful storm to hit the city in over seven decades. The storm landed early Monday morning with wind speeds of nearly 100 mph, prompting the evacuation of over 400,000 residents. More than 1,400 flights have been canceled, and parks, businesses, and resorts were closed. The storm moved toward Jiangsu province by early afternoon, though rain persisted in Shanghai.
