Jeff Bezos’ old neighbor says his broker cheated him out of millions

Jeff Bezos bought his house in Miami’s “Billionaire Bunker” for $6 million under the asking price, and now his former neighbor is suing the broker.

00:07Last year, Bezos paid $79 million for the house in Miami's billionaire bunker,

00:12but it was $6 million below the asking price of his neighbor Leo Chris.

00:16Bezos bought his first house on the exclusive Indian Creek Island last year for $68 million,

00:21and later bought Chris' house next door and the third property earlier this year for $90 million.

00:26Chris asked agents for his broker if Bezos was the one trying to buy his house anonymously,

00:31to which he was told that Bezos was not behind the sale and that the potential

00:34buyer would pay no more than $79 million. If Chris had known the buyer was Jeff Bezos,

00:39he would have charged more, according to a lawsuit.

00:41Chris is suing his broker for damages in excess of $750,000,

00:46claiming a breach of contractual duties. He also wants the broker to forfeit the

00:50$3.16 million commission it received as part of the deal.
