Bhutan celebrates Buddhist Tshechu festival with masked dances

Thousands of Bhutanese people dressed in colourful dresses gather at Tashichho Dzong Buddhist monastery in the kingdom's capital, Thimphu, to celebrate the Buddhist Tshechu festival.

00:00Chechu is a celebration where people, everybody comes together, it's a national holiday.

00:26It's a huge display of Bhutanese culture and tradition.

00:29We get to see some sacred marks dance, Bhutanese dance, singing, music, everything there.

00:35And people gather here with their families, they take out the best dress out of the wardrobe.

00:55For me, Chechu is a very wonderful event that brings families together, it also gives blessings

01:10and teaches how our ancestors used to practice Buddhism.
