00:00Storm Boris has caused deaths, evacuations and power cuts as heavy flooding hits Central

00:06European countries.

00:12Storm Boris swept through Central Europe, causing flash floods, deaths and mass evacuations

00:18across the region.

00:21At least one person died in both Poland and Austria and four are reported missing in the

00:25Czech Republic.

00:28In the eastern Czech region of Moravia, thousands were evacuated as the storm brought some of

00:33the heaviest rains seen in years to the region, with more than a quarter of a million households

00:39left without electricity.

00:44In neighbouring Poland, towns were evacuated and emergency services were deployed to fight

00:50the flood.

00:51Polish Prime Minister Daniel Tusk appealed to those refusing to evacuate amid the storm

00:57and said the state would provide financial help to those affected by the extreme weather.

01:04In Austria, dozens of municipalities were declared disaster zones by authorities as

01:09residents were evacuated.

01:13A civil defence alert was issued and a firefighter died while responding to the flooding.

01:22At least eight migrants lost their lives whilst trying to reach the UK by crossing the Czech

01:27Channel from France.

01:29During the night, authorities detected a boat carrying dozens of people in distress off

01:34of the French coast.

01:36A rescue ship was sent to the scene and emergency services provided medical aid to 53 migrants

01:43on the beach.

01:44Despite the care provided, French maritime authorities reported that eight people had

01:49died.

01:51Six individuals, including a 10-month-old baby with hypothermia, were hospitalised following

01:56the incident.

02:12The survivors are from Eritrea, Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan, Egypt and Iran.

02:20They were taken to a local sports hall in France and an investigation into the incident

02:25was opened by French authorities.

02:33A long-range missile fired from Yemen landed in central Israel in the latest reparation

02:38from the nearly year-long war in Gaza.

02:42There were no reports of casualties or damage and local authorities said operations resumed

02:47as normal shortly afterwards.

02:51A fire could be seen in a rural area of central Israel and local media showed images of what

02:57appeared to be a fragment from a missile or interceptor.

03:01Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels have repeatedly fired drones and missiles towards Israel since

03:07the start of the Israel-Hamas war, but almost all of them have been intercepted over the

03:12Red Sea.

03:14The war in Gaza has rippled across the region, with Iran and its allies attacking Israeli

03:19and US targets and drawing retaliatory strikes from Israel and its Western allies.

03:26On several occasions, the strikes and counter-strikes have threatened to trigger a wider conflict.

03:33Iran supports militant groups across the region, including Hamas, the Houthis and Lebanon's

03:39Hezbollah.

03:43Hundreds of protesters have gathered in Paris to denounce rape and sexual violence in France

03:49and around the world.

03:50The rally was held in solidarity with victims of rape, with some protesters carrying banners

03:55saying victims, we believe you.

03:57We need to talk about the rape culture and the fact that after seven years of MeToo we

04:04already know that there is not a special type of victim, but now, nowadays, we are collectively

04:12realizing that there is not a special type of rapist.

04:16The demonstration was inspired by Giselle Pellicot, the woman allegedly drugged by her

04:21now ex-husband over the course of a decade so that she could be raped by dozens of men

04:25while unconscious.

04:27That case has shocked France and become a symbol of the country's fight against sexual

04:31violence.

04:33Since the beginning of the trial on 2 September, Pellicot has been praised for her courage

04:37and composure.

04:39Her decision to hold a public trial, she said, was in solidarity with other women who go

04:43unrecognized as victims of sexual crimes.
