00:42New interest rates have been set at 3.65% for main refinancing operations, 3.90% for

00:48the marginal lending facility, and 3.50% for the deposit facility.

00:53The governing council today decided to lower the deposit facility rate, the rate through

01:00which we steer the monetary policy stance, by 25 basis points.

01:07Based on our updated assessment of the inflation outlook, the dynamics of underlying inflation

01:14and the strength of monetary policy transmission, it is now appropriate to take another step

01:20in moderating the degree of monetary policy restriction.

01:25The move has been widely anticipated by market participants.

01:30The decision comes as inflation cools, with Eurozone consumer price growth slowing to

01:352.2% in August.

01:40The EU's top diplomat visited Lebanon on a mission to discuss the situation in Gaza.

01:46High representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell's

01:51mission will be an opportunity to discuss all aspects of the war between Israel and

01:56Hamas, as well as wider political issues with regional leaders.

02:43One of the four bridges crossing the Elbe River has partially collapsed in the German

02:47city of Dresden.

04:35The sanctions announced in June aim to disrupt Moscow's defense industry's reliance on Western

04:40technology, according to the U.S. Department of Treasury.

04:44Prohibited activities include a U.S. citizen supplying IT consultancy and design services,

04:50providing management or manufacturing software, and other cloud-based assistance.

04:57Since Russia's 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the EU has also imposed what it says

05:04are massive and unprecedented sanctions against Moscow.

05:08This includes imposed penalties on companies working in the IT, telecoms and insurance

05:13sectors.

05:15According to the European Commission, the EU has banned over 48 billion euros worth

05:20of Russian goods destined for the continent, while stopping 91 billion euros worth of imported

05:26goods from Moscow.

05:33Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky calls for maximum support from participants at the

05:38fourth summit of the Crimea platform.

05:42He reminds leaders that the war began with the occupation of Crimea and that its freedom

05:47is essential to lasting peace in Ukraine.

06:12The summit was initiated by the Ukrainian president in 2021.

06:23It focuses on efforts to reclaim the Crimean Peninsula, which has been under Russian occupation

06:28since 2014.

06:30Zelensky stresses that Ukraine will not trade its land, nor will it abandon its people.

06:37The Ukrainian leader also unveiled a memorial in Kyiv dedicated to the victims of the 1944

06:44Crimean deportation.

06:52Russia goes on counter-offensive in Kursk region, a little over a month after Ukrainian

06:57forces' lightning incursion.

07:00The size, scale and potential prospects of the operation are unclear and the situation

07:04remains fluid as of today, but let's take a closer look at where the movement is.

07:10As per the available information, the counter-attacks started along western edge of the Ukrainian

07:45advanced near the settlement, reportedly after crossing the border.

07:51Russian Ministry of Defence and Russian mail bloggers claim that those Ukrainian attacks

07:55have been repelled, but it is unclear how much force Ukraine has committed to the reported

08:02counter-attack.

08:03The Institute for the Study of War says available visual evidence suggests that Russian forces

08:08counter-attacking in Kursk region may be using elements of more combat-experienced units

08:13to conduct counter-attacks, although it is unclear how effective those operations will

08:18be since some of these units have been heavily degraded and reconstituted many times.

08:25Russian forces may intend to temporarily bisect the Ukrainian salient in Kursk region

08:30before beginning a more organised and well-equipped effort to push Ukrainian forces out of Russian

08:38territory.

08:43Police authorities in North Mitrovica say at least four people were arrested following

08:47the visit of Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurty on Monday.

08:52Kurty's visit to the town, divided along ethnic lines, was seen by the local Serbs

08:57as an act of provocation amid rising tensions in the northern region.

09:01Two of four border crossings with Serbia have been closed after protesters on the side of

09:06the town where most of the ethnic Serb minority lives blocked the road and prevented motorists

09:11with Kosovo-issued licence plates from passing through.

11:23Singapore is one of the most religiously diverse countries in the world, and Francis is expected

11:28to encourage its small but growing Catholic community.

11:31The pope will also hold private meetings with Singapore's president and prime minister.

11:37For many Catholics in Singapore, this will be their first time seeing a pope.

11:41The last pope to visit was John Paul II in 1986.
