00:00The PAS Ulama Council has denied claims that it is blindly defending Qadhaf Munti Basar
00:07Sanusi Noor following criticisms over his participation in karaoke activities.
00:13Its chief, Ahmad Yahya, said the council monitors and advises leaders who engage in activities
00:19that could be deemed as misconduct.
00:22He said activities such as singing and sports are permissible as long as they do not conflict
00:26with Islamic law.
00:28Ahmad said misconduct can be deemed sinful and the PAS Ulama Council will not defend
00:33prohibited actions, especially when they are wrong, adding that fairness must always be
00:38upheld.
00:39Yesterday, a PAS delegate from Perlis expressed disappointment over the lack of disciplinary
00:44action against certain party leaders, particularly those who shook hands with women.
00:50Saifizi Saidan said a party leader who had repeatedly shaken hands with women faced no
00:55consequences while others, including those who took part in karaoke, were defended by
01:00PAS scholars.
