00:00Hi, I'm PC Paul. I've been a police officer here for 16 years and in January I reverted to Islam.
00:07Alhamdulillah, I'm very happy.
00:09As-salamu alaykum brother, how are you?
00:16My role is to interact with the community, so it's really nice because I've been here for so long.
00:22I know the young children, I know the older people, the grandparents, the parents.
00:29It's like one big family actually, so if I have a problem with a child, if they're naughty,
00:33you know, they've been stepping out of line, I can take them home to the parents.
00:41Nobody sort of, you know, a lot of people said, oh, inshallah, one day, Paul, you're going to become,
00:45you'll be Muslim, but no one really, you know, they've not sort of tried to force me or anything like this
00:52and it's just over a period of time I started studying the Qur'an and I started to look into Islam
01:00and it's just such a wonderful, wonderful, peaceful religion.
01:07In a period of five months, I've read the Qur'an twice, but I've not missed a prayer.
01:13These young people, they'll come to me and they'll say, Paul, because I can say to them, are you praying?
01:17Because I know I'm praying all the prayers and it's nice because they'll come and say, actually, now we're praying.
01:22So, alhamdulillah, it works together, like I can rub off on them and then they will inspire me and they'll rub off on me.
01:31People have asked me, why did you choose Islam?
01:35And my answer is, I didn't choose Islam, Allah chose me, alhamdulillah.
01:41I've got no doubt in my mind, you know, I've been put here for a reason.
01:46I'm not just a local policeman, I'm like a brother, an uncle, a son, a nephew, a friend and I'm blessed.
