Ewan McGregor speaks of ‘hunger’ for old Hollywood films as he receives Walk of Fame star

Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor has said he is “very touched” after being awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.The 53-year-old was inducted into the famous street with a speech from Hayden Christensen, who he starred with in the Star Wars prequel trilogy as Obi-Wan Kenobi.Christensen praised McGregor as “the best Jedi master anyone could’ve asked for”.McGregor’s star has become the 2,789th on the walk and is located outside the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard after it was unveiled yesterday.Receiving the honour, McGregor said he was particularly pleased that his star would be next to that of his late friend Carrie Fisher.

01:18And I hungered for old Hollywood movies of the 40s and the 30s and British movies, Ealing comedies, just anything.

01:27I wanted movies in my life more than I wanted kids' shows or anything like that from a really young age.

01:33And I'm just so happy to be part of the world.

01:36I'm happy to be a creative person.

01:38I'm happy to be an artist.

01:40And I love it very much.

01:42And I love you all very much, too.
