Deadly Israeli strike on Gaza school draws global condemnation

00:00These residents are mourning the death of more victims, before burying them a few kilometres

00:07They had been among 12,000 displaced Palestinians sheltering in the al-Jaouni school in the

00:12Nusrat refugee camp.

00:14The United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees, which runs the school, says it was

00:19hit by an airstrike for the fifth time since the beginning of the war, but this time, they

00:24say, it killed six staff members of the UN agency.

00:29What is clear to us is that no one in this conflict, and all parties, and I do mean all

00:34parties, should never use civilian infrastructure as a place from which to launch attacks, to

00:41target attacks.

00:42Israel responded with its usual rhetoric, that of targeting the Hamas militants.

00:48When a school is no longer a school and becomes a Hamas command and control centre, used by

00:53Hamas terrorists to plan and execute terrorist attacks against our troops and against our

00:59people here in the state of Israel, then it becomes a legitimate target.

01:05The White House said it is in touch with its Israeli counterparts for more information

01:09on the incident.

01:11According to the UN, over 200 of its staff in Gaza have been killed during the war.
