00:32The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are protected by mysterious Mayan temple guards.
00:37Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?
00:42The legend of Alexander and the Gordian Knot.
00:46Well, one of these six teams will have a chance to retrieve the Gordian Knot. Will it be the Red Jaguars?
00:52The Blue Barracudas?
00:55The Green Monkeys?
00:58The Orange Iguanas?
01:00The Purple Parrots?
01:03Or the Silver Snakes?
01:06They're going to have to pass some pretty tough physical and mental tests, and in the end, only one team will earn the right to enter Olmec's temple.
01:13But first, they must cross the moat, and here's how they'll have to do it today.
01:17When I say go, one player from each team will swim across the moat, carrying a rope with them.
01:22Once he's across, he'll wrap the rope once around the base of the pole, pull it tight, sit down, bracing himself with his feet,
01:29and that's his partner's signal to grab onto the upper rope and walk himself across the lower rope.
01:35As soon as the second teammate has stepped onto the deck, it's his job to run over here and hit the gongs.

03:01As we continue our quest, it's now time for Olmec to tell us about the legend of Alexander and the Gordian Knot.
03:08But pay close attention because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the temple.
03:14Only one man can be called the greatest conqueror in history, Alexander the Great.
03:20When Alexander was 20, he became king of Greece and decided to conquer Persia.
03:25On his way, he came across a wagon tied to the huge, complicated knot.
03:29It was called the Gordian Knot, and according to legend, the person who could undo it would rule all of Asia.
03:36Instead of untying it, Alexander took out his sword and cut through it in a single stroke.
03:41After defeating the Persians, he pushed on through the mountains of Afghanistan and the deserts of Turkestan and finally came to India.
03:48There he stopped, and thinking he had conquered the entire world, Alexander declared himself a god.
03:55On the way back to Greece, disappointed that there was nothing left to conquer, Alexander went to bed and died.
04:02Legend has it that one of his generals took the Gordian Knot and it ended up in the temple.
04:08Your quest is to retrieve the Gordian Knot and bring it back here.
04:13Thank you, Olmec. So where is the Gordian Knot?
04:16The Gordian Knot can be found in the observatory.

09:16In the temple games, each team is competing to win pendants of life.
09:20The winning team will need those pendants to protect them from the dreaded temple guards
09:24as they make their way through the temple.
09:26There are three temple games, and the first one is Alex's World.
09:30It took Alexander the Great twelve years to cross the deserts and the mountains and conquer
09:34the ancient world.
09:35Our players have 60 seconds.
09:37Over here on the far side of the mountain, we have the Maps of the World.
09:41And when I say go, one player from each team will grab a picture of Alexander, stick it
09:46to his chest, and then climb over the mountain with these ropes back here.
09:50When he gets to the other side, he'll stick his picture on the globe and head back over.
09:55Then he'll grab another picture and start again.
09:57And the first one to place three pictures of Alexander on the globe or the one that's
10:02furthest along in 60 seconds wins.
10:04Our spotters have attached the ropes, the safety ropes.
10:08We need 60 seconds on the clock.
10:11On your mark, get set, go!
10:16It takes all upper body strength to get up these, and the orange iguanas are moving quick.
10:24You don't want to drop your map.
10:28Silver Snake's got the first one, but the orange iguanas are not far behind.
10:33They're neck and neck, as a matter of fact.

10:40They've got to get three pictures of Alexander on the map.

10:50It gets harder as you keep climbing, but the orange iguana doesn't look like he is tiring at all.

11:47Alexander made conquests look easy, and in only nine years, he expanded his empire to the edges of the world.
11:54In a moment, we're going to give our players a chance to expand their borders a little.
11:59Well, when I say go, one player from each team will slide down on his stomach and glide along this ramp as far as he can.
12:07Then he'll get up, run back, and do it again.
12:10The player who slides the farthest and expands their boundary in 60 seconds wins.
12:15I love this game.
12:16Let's put 60 seconds on the clock.
12:20On your mark, get set, go.
12:25Nice slide by the Silver Snake.
12:27He's going to have to do it again, though.
12:29You cannot go on your knees.
12:30You've got to slide on your stomach.
12:33The key to the game is pulling yourself along at the end of the tube and pulling yourself across.

12:45It looks to be pretty even from here, but it's a matter of how many slides you get in.

13:27That's very tiring as you have to keep going back and forth.
13:29Great job by the Silver Snakes.
13:31They were the farthest, as you can see.
13:33If we can pull back here, we can see that they're farthest.
13:35They get a half a pendant of life.
13:37It's all tied up.
13:38And our next game is worth a whole pendant.
13:41So we're going to find out who goes to the temple here.
13:43So let's go check it out.
13:51Some cities resisted Alexander so strongly, he practically had to dismantle them stone by stone.
13:58In this game, our players get to reconstruct some of the destroyed columns.
14:02Up here, we have two ancient columns.
14:04And when I say go, one player from each team will jump up with the first ring of the column
14:10and then slide it down over the pole.
14:12Then his partner will jump up, and then he'll put the next ring down on the pole.
14:17They'll alternate that way for 60 seconds,
14:19and the first team to completely reconstruct the ancient column
14:23or the one that's furthest along when time's up wins.
14:26Let's check it out.
14:27Our spotters are getting the last-minute instructions going.

16:49You two have proven yourselves worthy, and now you've earned the right to enter Omex Temple.
16:53But before we start, let's hear some information to help you retrieve the Gordian Knot.
16:59You could start by running through the Cave of Sighs and climbing down into the Pit of Despair.
17:06Turn the wheel to lift the stone slab, then race into the Throne Room.
17:12Sit on the throne of the Pretender, and you could choose to go up into the Heart Room,
17:17or into the treacherous holes of Python.
17:20If you escape, you might have a chance to enter the Tomb of Ancient Kings.
17:25Find the right key to go upstairs, or plow through the wall and into the well.
17:30Next, jump in the bucket and rise up into the Room of Three Torches.
17:36Find the right torch holder that will allow you to enter the Shrine of the Silver Monkey.
17:42Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Treasure Room.
17:46Next, race up to the Observatory, spin the sundial, and run across the Troubled Bridge.
17:53Then, pass through the Room of the Three Gargoyles, race down the stairs, and back through the Temple Gate.
18:00The choices are yours, and yours alone. Good luck.

18:08All right, you guys won a pendant and a half in the Temple Games.
18:10Here it is, Tim, there's your pendant.
18:12And, Regina, you get a half pendant.
18:14Now, who's going first?
18:15I am.
18:16And which way are you going, up or down?

18:19You're starting down. All right.
18:20When I say go, you're going to race through the Temple Gates, into the Temple,
18:23and you're going to make your way towards the Gordian Knot in the Observatory.
18:26But be careful, because the Temple has many locked doors and dead ends.
18:30Also inside the Temple are three Temple Guards assigned to protect three specific rooms.
18:34If you enter one of those rooms, the Temple Guard will jump out and capture you.
18:38But you can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on.
18:41But if you're caught without a pendant, he'll take you right out of the Temple.
18:44And then it'll be Regina's turn to try her luck.
18:47Now, you have a pendant and a half.
18:49The other, somewhere inside this Temple, is the other half of your pendant.
18:53If you can find it and you're carrying the other half, you get an extra life.
18:56Now, as soon as you reach the Gordian Knot, all the doors will instantly unlock
19:00and all the Temple Guards will vanish.
19:02And you'll have three minutes.
