00:00It's a very sad day for the Mets
00:02franchise today we lost Eddie
00:04Crane pool played more games for
00:06the Mets than anybody in the
00:08history of the franchise signed
00:11as a 17 year old out of James
00:13Monroe High School on the Bronx
00:15made his major league debut in
00:16the Mets first season in 1962
00:19and played 18 years for the Mets
00:21the Blue Jays are back home
00:23starting their next to last
00:25homestead of the regular season
00:27the New York Mets who are
00:29tied with the Atlanta Braves
00:30for the third and final wild
00:32card spot in the National League
00:34are here for the next three
00:35days Ryan Burr is the opener
00:38Francisco Lindor the first
00:40batter again the one two and a
00:42fastball will get a fastball at
00:45the top of the zone freezes
00:46Lindor one out Viento sitting
00:48346 against lefties this year
00:51but he's got a slugging
00:52percentage over 500 against
00:54righties as well inside hit the
00:57inside hit the bat or the hand
00:59Viento says the hand yeah that
01:01very clearly hit him on the
01:02hand so they're going to send
01:04him to first base after they
01:06they take a look at this.
01:07So here's Brandon Nemo swings
01:09at this one though there's one
01:12and that's all they'll get.
01:13They had no chance at the double
01:14play with Nemo running hard.
01:16Nemo takes off for a second
01:17slider in for a strike and
01:19Nemo steals second without even
01:21an effort of a throw swing and a
01:25soft liner left center field
01:27backing up it's caught by the
01:28shortstop Jimenez to end the
01:30inning.
01:31And this will be Tyler's 12th
01:33start of the year.
01:35He's averaging almost nine hits
01:37per nine innings.
01:38His walks have been down his
01:39last two starts.
01:40He's only walked one two batters
01:43in his last two starts and a
01:44walk to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
01:46With that here comes the man of
01:48the moment Spencer Horowitz who
01:50had a huge series in Atlanta
01:52including three homers in the
01:53last two games.
01:55Bats now with Guerrero on first.
01:58And he rips it into the right
02:00field corner.
02:03Glad he is on his way to third
02:05and is going to be held there.
02:07It's a double for Horowitz now
02:09seven for his last eight with
02:12five extra base hits.
02:15Low ball for and they are loaded
02:18to walk to the end from McGill
02:19wrapped around the double by
02:21Horowitz and a moment of truth
02:22in this game for Tyler and
02:24Jeremy Hefner is going to go out
02:26and talk to him before he faces
02:27Alejandro Kirk Guerrero with
02:29third Horowitz at second Wagner
02:31at first with two down and he
02:33hits one back to McGill who
02:34snags it nicely and makes the
02:36play to get out of first inning
02:38trouble and will go to the
02:40second inning.
02:41No score Blue Jays and Mets at
02:42Rogers Center one out is J.D.
02:44Martinez swinging to miss and
02:47Burr pumped up as he gets
02:48Martinez for the second down
02:50swing and a miss strike three.
02:51Ryan Burr punches him out with a
02:53slider.
02:54How about two scoreless hitless
02:55innings for Burr.
02:57Luis Frias is the new pitcher.
02:59We saw him earlier this year
03:00with the Diamondbacks.
03:02Frias made one appearance
03:04against Atlanta in the just
03:06completed series gave up four
03:07runs in a third of an inning.
03:09That'll kill your ERA for a
03:10year.
03:11He makes quick work though of
03:12Harrison Bader strikes him out
03:14on three pitches.
03:15So Alvarez a scorcher of a one
03:18hopper and he's retired for the
03:19second out.
03:21And Al and Dora for the second
03:22time Francisco took a call third
03:24strike his first time up swing
03:27in a high fly ball left center
03:29field Varsha started back now
03:30moves forward and makes the
03:31catch to end the inning one two
03:34three for Luis Frias and his
03:35Rogers Center debut.
03:37That catch means the bases are
03:39still empty and now two outs for
03:40Vladimir Guerrero Junior who
03:42walked in the first two two from
03:43McGill and he got him with a
03:45slider.
03:46So McGill gets the side out in
03:48order in the third he's retired
03:49seven in a row.
03:50No score as we play in the
03:51fourth and the 32 year old
03:54lefty Ryan Yarbrough is in as
03:55the bulk reliever for the Jays
03:58and Alonzo takes a high ball
04:00force of Pete is aboard the
04:01Mets have just their second base
04:03runner and Al Jose Iglesias who
04:05flied out to center his first
04:06time up and nailed him on the
04:08back.
04:09And that's a couple of free base
04:10runners from Ryan Yarbrough and
04:12the Mets have two on for J.D.
04:13Martinez runners get set to go
04:16three two to Martinez and he
04:18whacks one through the hole a
04:19base hit.
04:20That'll get the Mets the lead
04:21Alonzo and to score J.D.
04:23Martinez with another one
04:25scoring hit and the Mets strike
04:27first it's one nothing New York
04:29in the fourth bottom of the
04:30fourth inning Spencer Horowitz
04:32leads off for Toronto Horowitz a
04:34half swing.
04:35Did he go he went around strike
04:36three got him with the splitter.
04:37So the American Sporak provides
04:39the fourth strikeout from
04:40McGill who's now retired eight
04:42in a row.
04:43And Wagner takes strike three
04:44call fastball got him looking
04:46that's three strikeouts in a row
04:48McGill is now retired nine
04:50straight that's it on the ground
04:52the third and Vientas has got it
04:53plenty of time side retired 10
04:56straight retired by McGill puts
04:58up a zero after getting the
04:59lead.
05:00So Alvarez draws a one out walk
05:02second walk given up by
05:03Yarbrough.
05:03They have two walks.
05:04They've been hit by a pitch
05:06twice.
05:06They only have one hit oh to
05:08swing and a miss strike three a
05:10bit of a chuckle from Lindor who
05:12had ugly waves at back to back
05:14curveballs.
05:15He strikes out for the second
05:17out of the fifth.
05:17Runner goes the throw down by
05:20Kirk on a bounce and they still
05:22got Kirk bounced it in but a
05:23nice pick from Will Wagner.
05:25He applies the tag to end the
05:27inning.
05:28Another runner caught stealing by
05:30Alejandro Kirk a great start for
05:33Tyler McGill called upon this
05:36morning to take the slot of Paul
05:38Blackburn and he's retired 10 in
05:40a row hasn't given up a base
05:42runner since the first inning.
05:43And right now he's shutting out
05:45the Blue Jays to the tune of
05:46one hit and their strike three
05:49call another fastball at the
05:50knees and McGill's got his six
05:52strikeout.
05:53He dialed that one up to 98 and
05:55he got him with a split a
05:56splitter.
05:57And that's the second out seven
06:00strikeouts now from McGill
06:02swing and a miss.
06:03McGill blows away Luke's and he
06:05strikes out the side in the
06:06fifth inning five scoreless
06:08innings from McGill.
06:08He's retired 13 straight
06:10Tyler McGill has set a career
06:12high by retiring 13 batters in a
06:15first pitch to George Springer
06:17is set on one hop to Lindor and
06:19now he's retired 14 in a row one
06:21to come out of our show and he
06:23struck him out through a
06:23fastball right by him.
06:25Fifteen straight retired by
06:27McGill that's his ninth
06:28strikeout matching a season high
06:30Vladimir Carrero Junior has
06:31walked and struck out tonight 0
06:33for one three two from McGill
06:36bouncing ball for Lindor plays
06:38the easy hop side retired 16 in
06:42a row retired by Tyler McGill.
06:44He's in firm command one nothing
06:46to you and the Mets are hit for
06:48the third time in this game
06:50second time Iglesias has been
06:52hit and the Mets get the lead
06:53off man on one out and one on
06:55for Starling Marte who has
06:56struck out and grounded out hit
06:58on the ground to short Jimenez
07:00gloves it steps on second one
07:02throws to first double play to
07:04end the inning six three the
07:06Blue Jays turn it and after the
07:08leadoff hit batter Yarbrough
07:09still faces the minimum Danny
07:11Young the left hander for the
07:13Blue Jays takes over for his
07:14thirty fifth appearance of the
07:15season and only forty six of his
07:18major league career having a
07:19very nice year a two seven zero
07:22E.R.A.
07:24Hit him got his foot and
07:26Schneider will take his base
07:28Schneider down to first
07:29Alejandro Kirk up to the plate
07:31and a right field that's a base
07:33hit Schneider up to second on
07:36the play in the Blue Jays have
07:37two men on with a one out now
07:39Ernie Clement is announces a
07:40pinch hitter and Carlos Mendoza
07:42came out to make a pitching
07:44change he was waiting for them
07:45to announce the right hand
07:46hitter.
07:47So at the tying and lead runs on
07:49base Young exits and Boutteau
07:51comes on trying to protect a one
07:52nothing lead in the seven.
07:55And pulled into left field a
07:56base hit Schneider is putting
07:59the brakes on around third and
08:01dives back into the bag and the
08:03single by Clement has loaded the
08:05bases pinch runner out at second
08:07base by the way Alejandro Kirk
08:08has been lifted from the game.
08:09Brian Servin is at second and he
08:11presents the go ahead run Leo
08:13Jimenez bats for the Blue Jays
08:15one nothing Mets and did that
08:17hit him.
08:17It did.
08:18It hit Jimenez and that's going
08:22to force in the tying run just
08:24enough for an RBI and tied the
08:26game up.
08:27That's beautiful.
08:27There are four total hits in
08:29this game.
08:30More guys have been hit by
08:30pitches that have come up with
08:32base hits bases still loaded for
08:34the Blue Jays one out now one
08:36one game Nathan Lucas up.
08:39And he's hit it high in the air
08:40to left.
08:42Servin tagging the catch made by
08:45Neal Servin on his way to the
08:47plate and he is in there.
08:50The go ahead run scores on the
08:52sack fly to one Blue Jays Tommy
08:54Nance is on the pitch and Jesse
08:57Winker will bat for Harrison
08:58Bader leading off in the eighth
09:00and Winker takes high ball for
09:02he threw him a curve on three
09:03and two and the Mets up the
09:05tying run aboard leading off in
09:07the eighth Tyrone Taylor will
09:08now run for Winker at first base
09:10Alvarez at the plate.
09:12He's at two good at bats.
09:13He dribbles one he might get a
09:15hit out of this better handed by
09:16Clement and he throws it away.
09:18Taylor hits for third Alvarez
09:20will stay at first and the Mets
09:23have runners at the corners with
09:24nobody out and Lador takes ball
09:27for again he threw a three to
09:29breaking ball.
09:30Unbelievable second walk of the
09:32inning issued by Nance and the
09:33Mets of the bases loaded and
09:35nobody out with Mark Vientos
09:37coming up.
09:38Eddie Alvarez who just joined
09:39the Mets today is going to run
09:41Francisco Alvarez.
09:43So it's one Alvarez running for
09:44another carrying the go ahead
09:46run at second base and in the
09:48dirt that gets away from
09:49serving.
09:50Here comes Taylor with a tying
09:52run.
09:53It's two to two a wild pitch
09:56brings home the tying run and
09:58moves the go ahead run to third
10:00so one out and now Nemo swings
10:02and misses it gets away from
10:03serving.
10:04Here comes Alvarez the throw not
10:06in time and the Mets take the
10:07lead.
10:08The Mets getting two runs on
10:11that get away from the catcher
10:13and the Mets go right back in
10:15front three to two in the eight
10:17and with Diaz has thrown six
10:19consecutive scoreless innings
10:20since the two home runs he
10:22allowed on the last road trip.
10:24So Clement now two for two off
10:26the bench and the Blue Jays on
10:28the tying run aboard with two
10:29out winning run at the plate
10:31Leo Jimenez fly ball right
10:34field back goes Marte right to
10:37the fence to make the catch on
10:39and the Mets hang on to win it.
10:42And the Mets win a one run
10:44decision in the first game of
10:45the road trip as they beat the
10:48Jays three to two great pitching
10:50by Tyler McGill Diaz gets the
10:52save.
10:53The Mets did just enough.
10:55They win with only three hits
10:57and they move a game in front of
10:58Atlanta for the third wild card
11:01by that much.
11:02And you can exhale Met fans.
