Robots are decidedly future tech, however this automated helper is now being released in many trial homes this year. This is NEO Beta, a robot that is meant to mimic human locomotion and appearance and help humans around the house.

00:17While it might look a bit unsettling with its uncanny valley human-like movement and
00:20appearance, developer 1X hopes it will one day be in most homes, writing in a recent
00:26Neo Beta represents a significant advancement in robotics, moving beyond traditional stiff
00:31robots to humanoids with bio-inspired designs that can safely work among people.
00:35With the company's CEO saying that consumer robots in the home are a closer reality than
00:40most people think, with 1X saying this particular unit will likely cost a lot less than most
00:44people think as well, retailing for around the same cost as a relatively affordable car.
00:49The robotics manufacturer adds that this could be what the future of low-cost physical labor
00:53looks like, with intelligent humanoids working alongside people.
00:57The trial in-home rollout of these robots will expose them to more diverse environments,
01:01with Neo Beta continuing to learn.
01:031X adds this will help it become even more capable in a wider variety of scenarios.
