The race to 2036 is heating up!  Olympic officials say several countries may be in the running  to host those Games. But Western nations have organized 8 of the last 10 Olympics. 00:06The games are supposed to promote inclusivity,

00:09but Africa has never played host and neither has India.

00:13So, are we on track for change?

00:15Well, let's see who could be in the running.

00:18Egypt says it will bid for the 2036 games,

00:21and if that doesn't work out, the 2040 event.

00:25It's already opened a massive stadium

00:27in its so-called Olympic city complex.

00:30It's also looking to construct

00:31more than 20 other facilities.

00:34Then there's India, home to 1.4 billion people.

00:38Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said

00:40his country wants to host the 2036 games.

00:44The city of Delhi organized the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

00:48India has also hosted the IPL for 16 years.

00:52The cricket tournament is one of

00:53the biggest events of its kind.

00:56There may be other contenders, like Turkey.

00:59It's positioned at the crossroads of Europe and Asia,

01:02making it ideal for TV networks

01:05looking to maximize viewership.

01:07Its biggest city, Istanbul, is also set

01:10to host the European Games in 2027.

01:13Indonesia may also be lining up a bid.

01:16The games have never gone to a country

01:17with a Muslim majority.

01:19Indonesia has the biggest Muslim population in the world.

01:23It's now building its new capital, Nusantara,

01:27and reports suggest it's aiming to host the games

01:28in that city at some point.

01:31Finally, Qatar, another state with a Muslim majority.

01:35It hasn't announced a bid,

01:37but if it does, it may have a head start.

01:40Qatar organized the FIFA World Cup two years ago.

01:43It's also set to host the Asian Games in 2030.

01:47There may be a snag, however.

01:49Summer temperatures often surge above 40 degrees,

01:52meaning officials may have to move the Olympics

01:55to a different time of year.

01:57Now, the next two hosts have already been decided,

02:00Los Angeles in 2028 and Brisbane four years later.

02:05But 2036 may represent a crucial moment,

02:08a moment, perhaps, when we move one step closer

02:12to the ideals behind that Olympic motto.
