Paris Olympics 2024: China’s equestrian rider speaks to CGTN

China's equestrian rider Alex Hua Tian competed at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Monday.  Speaking to CGTN’s Li Jianhua before the games got underway, the 34-year-old said the Olympics was always an opportunity for growth and development.   #Paris2024 #OlympicGames#China

00:00It's been a quite a serious learning curve, and at each Olympics I've been at a different point on that curve,

00:07and so each experience has been very, very different.

00:11Beijing, I learned a lot about who I was, you know, falling off of the eighth fence in front of everybody,

00:19you know, taught me about how much I wanted this.

00:23Rio gave me the confidence that I deserve to be here.

00:28Tokyo was quite difficult in some ways because I really missed having the atmosphere of the crowds there.

00:39So how did you feel when you were notified that you would participate in the Paris 2024?

00:45It was announced officially pretty recently, it was at the end of June, wasn't it?

00:50Very, very happy, very, very excited, relieved to some degree.

00:54The Olympic Games is a dream for me.

00:58It's something that since Beijing 2008, since I got that taste of it when I was 18 years old,

01:05I've always wanted more.

01:08Each time you get that opportunity, it's very, very special.
