00:00Recently Kamala Harris was spotted boarding Air Force Two, sporting a pair of wired earbuds as
00:05she walked across the tarmac. However, in 2024, it's a rarity these days to see anyone sporting
00:10the classic dangling cord. So why is the vice president? This is nothing new for the Democratic
00:15presidential hopeful. In fact, back in 2021, three White House sources told Politico that Harris has
00:21long felt the Bluetooth headphones are a security risk and insists on using wired headphones. And
00:26according to cybersecurity experts, she's right to be dubious of the prolific data transmission
00:32band. Self-proclaimed ethical hacker and application security architect Meryl Vernon told
00:36HuffPost that any wireless system can be intercepted, explaining that there's pretty
00:40much no opportunity for an attacker to eavesdrop on her conversation if she's using the device and
00:45the wired headphones. That is, unless they're standing nearby or compromised her mobile device.
00:50With hacker and CEO of consultancy Secure Ideas telling the news outlet, quote,
00:55if you are elected to be the vice president of the United States, then yes, stop using Bluetooth
01:00entirely. So should you stop using it? Probably not. But they do recommend all users turn Bluetooth
01:05off on your phone when you're not using it. They also recommend doing regular checks to see which
01:10devices are paired to your connection and don't use your name as the identification for your devices.
